Last week I had an incredible Live session with Adam Taylor — British engineer, FPGA expert, and one of the sharpest minds in embedded systems.

We covered a lot of ground, but one thing that really stuck with me was his take on AI and the future of engineers.

His analogy was brilliant — he compared modern engineers to Scotty and Geordi LaForge from Star Trek.
They weren’t just coders. They understood the system deeply, defined the requirements, and then offloaded ex*****on to the computer.

That’s exactly where AI is taking us.

Not a replacement. A new level of abstraction.
The engineers who thrive will be the ones who bring domain knowledge + AI — not the ones who just vibe code and hope for the best
