JAMB’s Admission Policy To Be Reviewed By The Federal Government

According to the Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, the federal government is set to review how JAMB conducts admissions into tertiary institutions in the country so as to cater for colleges of education and other award-giving institutions.

The Federal Government on Tuesday, said admissions into tertiary institutions conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board may need to be reviewed, in order to adequately cater for colleges of education and other tertiary institutions.

Minister of Education, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, made this know to newsmen in Katsina State, said the process of admission into tertiary institution need to be re-examine retrospectively in order to correct possible errors.

The minister was responding to an earlier remark by the Provost of the Federal College of Education, Katsina, Professor M.A. Wasagu, that there had been decline in population of students at the colleges, owing to the United Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) conducted by JAMB.

Wasagu had noted that only the dregs of candidates who sit for UTME annually and fail to gain admission into universities were left for the colleges.
