It's been a while since I put up a post. Here is a project I have worked on over a year ago when I moved back to my hometown, Taipei, after over 20 years of absence.
I designed the official website of the Taiwan Biennial 2020 for the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts (https://taiwanbiennial.ntmofa.gov.tw/) curated by an old friend of mine, the famous contemporary Taiwanese artist, YAO Jui-Ching (姚瑞中).
"禽獸不如", worse than animals, translated as “Subzoology” was the theme of the exhibition. It sought to cogitate upon the long-term human plunderage and dominance over the lives on Earth. And to reflect on how humans can co-exist with other sentient beings in the post-pandemic era.
The Home Page animation is built using only CSS animation. Therefore, it is lightweight and quick to load. The animated concept came from its 2D poster counterpart. The design is a 符, a yellow paper "spell" that is commonly found in the Taoist temples. As a spell is often associated with "magic", I interpreted the concept by making the elements appear of thin air.
The website is bi-lingual and complies with W3C Accessibility Standards. As the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts is an affiliate of the Ministry of Culture, the website must also adhere to the Taiwanese cyber security standards.
