*COMPUTING TIP ON LINKS SPONSORED BY VIDTECH C.S*
*Intro*
Links is a common word but in computing they are called Hyperlinks.
A Hyperlink a _link from a hypertext document to another location, activated by clicking on a highlighted word or image_
Examples of hyperlinks include:
⚡Those promising "ghost" MBs
⚡Persuasive e.g those that tell you that you have been the selected winner of maybe some dollars, IPhone, Samsung galaxy.
⚡ Those to blogs e.g for news agencies, online poems etc.
⚡Those in apps especially those apps with _in-app purchases and free apps_
⛔Friends don't follow links anyhow because of the following:-
1. They sometimes lead to malicious software (viruses) which can ruin your device(PC, tablet, phone, PDAs etc). This explains why devices along the run get slower, data consumption increases, unexpained overheating, apps not working correctly _(referred to as bugs in computing) sometimes they completely fail to start, have u ever seen a notification " app has stopped working"_ even at times this condition worsens that the problem affects core system processes which cause the phone to malfunction. A very a good example of virus spread through links is the ".mosk virus" which encrypts all your data on the device thereby making it inaccessible to you.
_Just to let you know some of these damages are irreversible, not even restoring factory default settings can solve and may need fresh Operating system reinstallation_
2.These are most cases ads (adverts) which gain the owner of the website. In other wards you are making the owner of the site make money, your making them grow rich. Intact your being used and dumped.
3. These links have tracking cookies which have administrator privilleges and therefore can autoinstall on your device thereby tracking all the activity on your device. These tracking cookies also leak your private information thereby making you more susceptible to hacking.
For us Africans we are lucky that we dont do alot of online transactions otherwise we would be culprits.
4. Most of your devices don' t have firewalls which can adequately protect you from these cyber crimes.
*In conclusion*
Just make sure the link your following is secure and you have a very good firewall.
How to know whether a link is secure, when u _look at the address bar on ur browser,( one which contains the *URL* or web address), it usually has a sign of a padlock and also has 's' on http://. I.e https://_
