5 reasons to love TTY.

1. TTY makes phone calling accessible to people who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and/or have speech differences. This relay service allows users to type messages and have them voiced on calls for them by a relay operator (RO) and have everything the other party says typed out for them to read by the RO.

2. Reliable access in rural or low-connectivity areas. TTY works over traditional landline phone service, which can be more reliable than mobile or internet-based options in rural or remote communities with limited wireless coverage.

3. Communication during power outages. Like voice calls, landline-based TTY systems can continue to work during power outages when connected to lines that carry their own power—making TTY a dependable option in emergencies.

4. Fully confidential calling. Whether you’re calling your doctor’s office, updating information with your bank, or catching up with friends. Your conversations are always kept private.

5. Relay services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
