Windows 11 has been quite an experience for many or our computer partners. 11 has some features that are vastly improved (including security), and some that make you scratch your head and ask yourself, "Did they change it just to make it different?"
If you are having trouble using all the new apps, or if your new computer is simply slowing down, let us help get you up to speed on the new technology.
Working remotely is quick and much less costly than having a technician come to your home or office.

This is Larry, the computer guy. (Not to be confused with Larry, the cable guy.) 😊

We are reaching out to see if help is needed in replacing unsecure Windows 10 computers. Now that the October 14th deadline for Windows 10 end of support has come and gone, many people are scrambling to purchase Windows 11 models to replace their current computer.

You may have already upgraded your own computer, and that would be a good thing, but with the holidays coming up, you might be interested in helping out a relative or friend by taking advantage of the great deals we have on Windows Professional (Business Class) desktop and laptop computers right now.

Microsoft no longer supports Windows 10 with updates and upgrades. They have however decided to sell virus protection for one more year. Unfortunately, experienced hackers don’t use viruses much these days. All that is needed is a sneaky malware app to take over a computer and/or steal personal information. If you plan to keep your Windows 10 computer, be sure to protect it as best you can. (We can help with that.)

If you decide you want to take advantage of our upgrade deals yourself, or for a special gift, we’re here to help you in your quest for a great, secure computer at a reasonable price.

“Home” computers are built cheaply to sell at local chain stores. We only get Windows Professional models, built for quality and longevity, for our computer "partners". Businesses insist on having computers that last. They can lose thousands of dollars if their computers go down, so they pay extra for the best. Usually, these businesses lease 50 to 100 computers for a two-to-four-year time period. When they turn them in for newer models, manufacturers sell them to refurbishers. Since these are built to last, they still outperform and outlast new “Home” models by many years.

Good home models sell for around $1000 new. New Professional computers usually sell for somewhere between $2000 and $3000.

Refurbished Business Class laptops can be purchased for $499 to $799.

No matter what computer you desire, we can get you a good deal. We can also set it up and transfer all your files from the old computer to the newer one. Normally that can be done in two to three hours. Call me with any questions, Larry 770-314-2400

Microsoft has decided to force 60% of it's users to upgrade from Windows 10. Some are angry and "upgrading" to Apple. The shot callers at Microsoft are not respecting the wishes of millions of their customers by forcing them to upgrade perfectly operational computers to newer models that use Windows 11 as the operating system. We all understand that new apps will not work on the older system, but some users (seniors, for example) have no need for the new apps and just want to continue with their existing device. To threaten everyone with the withdrawal of virus protection is just plain BAD business. IMO

Another scam going around... "Party Invitation" that actually installs a remote control program onto the recipient's computer. The criminals can then take control of the system, see (steal) passwords and log into your accounts. If you pass the invitation onto your contacts and friends, then they get attacked as well. We will check your system for free. There is no charge unless you have actually been compromised. If you have, the loss can be much more than the cost of the repair. Call for a free online remote checkup. 770-314-2400 We are available nationwide for remote service.

Another SCAM alert was released today by Malwarebytes. Emails claiming to report the passing of a friend or relative with a link to click that goes to a fake web page. It will eventually try to sell a fake product or pop up alerts, supposedly reporting that your computer is infected... "call this number for tech support." DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Microsoft has declared that the majority of Windows computers will be obsolete early in 2025. Of course the computers will still work. (Believe it or not, some brave souls are still using Windows 7 computers.) The problem is that Windows Security will no longer receive updates. That means, if the user has not installed Malwarebytes or one of the other aftermarket security programs, their device will be vulnerable to hacking.

If you are considering a new Windows computer, very nice Windows Professional computers are available at reasonable prices. Professional computers are built to a higher standard than the less expensive Home computers, and they last two to three times the life of the cheaper ones. (We have encountered failure and other problems sometime within 6 months of purchase on Home models.) New Professional models can cost from $1500 to $3000, but quality refurbished models can be had for less than the cost of a new Home model.

My personal computers are both refurbished models. One has Windows 10. The other has Windows 11. The Windows 10 model was purchased by me about 8 years ago, and it's still going strong.

When you find that you are ready to move to Windows 11 and will need a replacement for your old desktop or laptop computer, call me to discuss your options. Advice is free... and it's worth twice the price.😉 770-314-2400

Changing the clocks twice a year leads to a lot of grumbling, and pushes to either use standard time all year – or stick to daylight saving time all year often crop up.

During the 1970s energy crisis, the U.S. started doing daylight saving time all year long, and Americans didn't like it. With the sun not rising in the winter in some areas til around 9 a.m. or even later, people were waking up in the dark, going to work in the dark and sending their children to school in the dark, Prerau says.

"It became very unpopular very quickly," Prerau says.

And, he notes, using standard time all year would mean losing that extra hour of daylight for eight months in the evenings in the United States. ... Rean more:

Once again, most Americans will set their clocks forward by one hour this weekend. Where did this all come from, though?

Thanks for all the birthday wishes.

Facebook responded to my post about being "hacked" like many other users. They told me I was "cloned" and not hacked. Call it what you want, it's irritating. To all my "Friends" on FB: If you ever get a message that's really from me, it will have some kind of tidbit that let's you know it's really me. Hopefully, that will help my friends avoid answering messages from the criminals and/or mentally challenged people attempting to scam my friends.
