If you’re an artist who has been posting music on YouTube and you’re wondering how to get your channel up there, here are some tips that will certainly set you on the right path. At the end of the day it all boils down to talent, hard work and sometimes luck.

Have A Professional YouTube Channel


The first thing you need to do is make your channel professional. Give it a professional name and make all your other social medias professional. It’s best if they all have the same username and also be sure to post links of your accounts in each description box as well as in your about me page.

You want to Upload Consistent Content


The second thing you need to do is to be consistent and organize your content. If you’re making two separate types of music or content you could separate them into playlists so that it’ll be easy for people to find. Try to have a posting schedule, once you have an organized schedule you’ll draw more viewers. Don’t post sporadically or post ten videos in one day. Keep them interested and coming back for more. A safe way to start is by posting once or twice a week. You also need to focus on visuals. Make sure your visuals are clean, don’t post rough visuals. No one is going to watch a 5 minute music video with an unsteady camera.



Network
The third thing to do is network. They’re probably many other upcoming artists like you on YouTube. Link up with those you can and produce music that’ll be posted on both your channels. Every artists contact info will be listed on their page. Reach out and connect with them. This will double the traffic on the video.

Tags, Titles, and Descriptions
You should also utilise the tagging system as well as making sure you name your videos appropriately.
Have a title that is similar to what people are searching for, when looking for this video
Create a description that describes what the video is about
Use tags that further describe what your video is about
Utilize Trends
The fourth thing to is taking note of trends. If a particular song is trending, make a cover of that song and upload it really quickly. When people search for that song your video will probably show up in the first page. For example the remixes of the “Walmart boy” singing got over 10 million views all because they managed to optimize the trend.



Youtube Analytics
The fifth tip is to know what your viewers like. Using analytics you can see which videos get more views and which videos brought people to your profile. When you know what sort of music garner more views you’ll post more of the genre or type. This doesn’t necessarily mean that you should stray from your path. Youtube analytics is in the back end of your youtube account page.

Youtube Music Channels
The last tip is to find out if you can pay popular music channels to advertise your music. There are many mix channels getting a ton of traffic already on their page. Contact them and see how to get your music featured on their page. It’s kind of like “paying the dj to get your song played.” Getting a big break can take five minutes or five years, if this is truly your passion, stick to it and eventually it’ll pay off.

Over the years, the amount of pirated music has been reduced considerably. This is possible because of the emergence of streaming music applications. Due to the many benefits many people have migrated over to these platforms. Hence, you should too. As an upcoming artist who isn't signed to any label it is even more vital that your music is available on as many streaming platforms as possible.

The most affordable service for this: Distrokid
After you've found a great beat to rap to, the easiest and cheapest way to get your music onto these streaming platforms is through Distrokid.

Distrokid is a web service that allows you to post your music and get it placed on the aforementioned stores. Distrokid is my first choice for two reasons, the first being that you pay a yearly fee instead of paying per song. The second is that you get 100% money generated from sales.

How to Use Distrokid
The first thing to do is to make an account then log in to distrokid.
At the top of the screen you'll see an upload sign. Click that sign.
Once you click the upload sign, it'll take you a new page where you'll be required to select the streaming platforms you'd like your music to appear on. You'll enter artist and song information. You're given the opportunity to purchase the YouTube Content ID which allows you to get paid whenever someone posts a video with your song in it.
After you're sure you've entered all required and important information you click the done button.
Distrokid's Three Yearly Membership Plans:
The first one is a 20$ a year plan. This plan allows one artist to post unlimited songs. You can only post songs from one artist.

The second is a $36 a year plan. This plan lets you post unlimited songs from two artists and also gives you access to stats and some other information.

The third is a $70 a year plan. It's often referred to as the label plan. It allows you post unlimited songs from 5+ artists and it comes with all the perks of the “Musician Plus” plan.

At least not on an ostentatious level. The truth is that most people respond to good beats before they even listen to the words, this is why EDM will continue to rave, it is because it sets your blood pumping.

In order to progress as an artist professionally, you're going to have to purchase beats. Fortunately, this has been made easier through the internet. In five easy steps, we will show you how to purchase your own beats.

1. Find A Beat
- There are several sites where you can find good beats. The most famous of them is SoundCloud. Others are YouTube, Beatstars & Soundclick.

2. Write to the Beat
- The best part about having these beats online is that you can practice on them without breaking any rules. As long as you don't perform using them, you're safe. Once you're sure you can adequately and successfully produce a track with the beat you move on to the next step.

3. Check their rates
- On SoundCloud, most producers have their rates written in their description box. They have lease rates as well as purchase rates. If you lease a beat, there is a high chance someone else will have that beat. You don't own that beat. All you have done is purchase a copyright free access to use that beat a couple of times. Once the lease expires you have to purchase another lease. Buying the beat however gives you full ownership of the best meaning no one else will be able to use it. You have complete and total access to it whenever you want.

4. Look at their terms and conditions
- You need to be assured of the conditions surrounding a lease or a sale in order to properly use it. Some conditions ask for credit even after buying a beat. This is not unusual because making beats take time and effort.

5. Purchase the beat
- Once you're done talking over the terms and conditions, you can purchase the beat. The payment usually occurs via PayPal. Once payment is done the producer will email you the beat and take it down or indicate it has been sold on the website.

In some rare occasions where you cannot find any links in their description box you can search their names on either of these sites or contact them directly.
