That’s why we built Hypa-Llama 3.1 8B SFT, a new AI model designed to better understand and translate underrepresented languages like Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, and more while preserving cultural meaning and context.

Most AI tools struggle with low-resource languages or lose important cultural nuances during translation. We’re changing that.

Our new model powers experiences like:

We fine-tuned Google’s Gemma 4 to better understand multilingual and underrepresented languages, including several underrepresented languages often overlooked in AI systems.

Using over 15 million multilingual training examples, Hypa-Gemma4-E2B was trained for:
* Translation
* Dictionary understanding
* Language detection
* Structured multilingual instruction following

One major lesson from the research:
Bigger training doesn’t always mean better performance. After a certain point, the model began overfitting, teaching us the importance of smarter training, not just longer training.

This is another step toward AI that works for everyone, not just the world’s most represented languages.

Over 7,000 languages are spoken across the world, yet the deeply dialects spoken by millions remains largely unheard.

At Hypa, we are changing that by building Intelligence systems for underrepresented and low-resource language that existing models were never designed to truly understand.

We are now formalizing our partner ecosystem and engaging with a select group of infrastructure providers, voice technology platforms, and AI-focused companies aligned with this mission.
