At Drio, we talk a lot about "Brand DNA," the deep-rooted values that actually make up the heartbeat of a business. For us, one of those non-negotiable pillars is empowering other women creatives in Baltimore.

That is exactly why you might have spotted Rachel at Spark’s International Coworking Day yesterday!

Instead, she was there representing Monument Women's Creative Alliance. We founded MWCA because we wanted to cultivate a real community that enables connection, inspiration, and education for local women in creative professions.

Spark’s "Build Your Ecosystem" marketplace was the absolute perfect place to share that mission. To all the incredible founders we met, it was a reminder of how powerful our local network truly is.

When we aren't behind our screens building custom websites, this is where you will find us: out in the community, building up the ecosystem around us.

A huge thank you to Spark Coworking for hosting such a fantastic event!

Once upon a time, a website homepage was basically a place to dump anything and everything, hoping visitors would eventually click around and find what they needed.

Unfortunately, there are still way too many service-based businesses using this exact approach.

Research shows you only have 10-20 seconds to convince visitors to stay on your website. When a prospect lands on your site, it sets the tone for their entire experience with your brand. They need to instantly know what you do, how you help them, and exactly what step to take next.

When you strip your homepage down to a more strategic design, it stops being a digital brochure and starts acting as a lead generation tool that actively guides your ideal clients right to your inbox.

Swipe through the carousel to see the 9 specific elements we use to boost conversions and spark connections when we build custom websites for service-based businesses.

At Drio, we design creative, strategy-driven websites that solve problems and make your brand the obvious choice. If you’re looking for a website that matches your business’s growth and does more than look pretty (though it’ll certainly do that too), we can help you get there. As if SEO wasn’t confusing enough for the average business owner, the rise of AI search has added a whole new layer of panic.

Lately, we have been hearing business owners ask if their traditional SEO efforts are now completely irrelevant, or if they need to overhaul their websites to appeal to AI instead of actual people.

Here is the truth: The rules of search haven't been replaced. They are just being built upon.

You can no longer "game the system" by stuffing a bunch of keywords onto a page like the old days. But you also cannot publish a soulless, information-stuffed website built entirely for robots and expect your ideal clients to actually reach out.

The businesses that are going to come out on top of this shift are the ones that prioritize a stellar human experience backed by a rock-solid technical foundation.

Swipe through to see the three biggest myths we are busting about AI search, and a few simple ways you can optimize your site to keep both the robots and your human clients happy.

If you need help optimizing your website, we’ve got you covered! Get in touch to learn more about our custom website design services.

You have probably heard the term "ESG" (Environmental, Social, and Governance) thrown around in big corporate marketing campaigns but this strategy is not just for Fortune 500 companies.

In fact, small, purpose-driven organizations actually do this better than anyone else.

Consumers are becoming incredibly intentional about where they spend their money. They want to work with businesses that actually care about their local communities, treat their employees well, and operate with total transparency.

If you are already doing the good work, whether that means donating a percentage of your profits to a local Maryland charity, committing to sustainable materials, or building an accessible website, you need to be talking about it. That isn't bragging; it is letting your ideal clients know that your values align with theirs.

Swipe to see how you can easily break your everyday business operations down into an ESG marketing strategy.

A few weeks ago, we talked about the first half of your Brand DNA like identifying your core values and ethics. But having great values doesn't mean much if your business sounds like a corporate robot online.

To actually connect with your audience, you have to translate those values into a distinct personality.

If your brand was a person walking into a room, how would they act? Are they formal or casual? Do they speak like a friend, or do they act like a wise, steady guide? At Drio, we like to say our personality is a mix of an insightful translator and the friend you meet at your favorite local coffee shop.

When you define your personality, writing your website copy, emails, and social media posts becomes infinitely easier. You stop trying to sound "professional" and start sounding like you.

If you want the exact questions we ask our clients to help them define their unique value proposition, we have Part 2 of our Brand DNA guide. Hit the link in our bio to read it!

Earlier this week, we talked about how important it is to figure out your Brand DNA, the unique personality, ethics, and experiences that make people want to hire you.

But once you figure out what your core values are, what do you actually do with them?

We see a lot of businesses write out a beautiful mission statement, and then they hide it on a random, buried page that nobody ever clicks on. If your values are the reason you started your business, they need to be woven into the fabric of your entire website.

When people land on your digital home, they shouldn't have to play detective to figure out what you stand for.

Swipe through for the 4 spots on your website where your brand values need to be front and center.

If you want some real world examples of how to do this naturally, we have a full guide on the blog. Hit the link in our bio to check it out!

When people start a business or plan a rebrand, they almost always jump straight to the visuals. They want a fresh logo, a modern color palette, and new fonts. Visuals are incredibly important, but brand loyalty is more than skin-deep. People tend to choose brands they feel connected to on an emotional or subconscious level.

That connection comes from your Brand DNA.

These are the deep-rooted characteristics that shape your personality and differentiate you from everyone else in your industry. For example, anyone can say their business values "kindness." But since pretty much everyone considers that to be an essential human trait, it doesn't really set you apart.

Your true DNA is found in your specific ethical principles, the way you treat your team, the materials you choose to source, and the local communities you actively support. It even includes your past credentials like the unique skills you developed in a completely different career before starting your current business.

If you feel like your messaging is blending in with your competitors, we pulled a great free guide on how to uncover your unique Brand DNA. Hit the link in our bio to read the first part!

From Baltimore to Poland: Our week at WordCamp Europe 2026.

Recently, we packed our bags and headed to Poland for WordCamp Europe!

We spent two and a half days completely immersed in the global WordPress community. As an agency that builds exclusively on WordPress, giving back to this ecosystem is incredibly important to us, which is why we actually spent part of the conference jumping in as volunteers.

But the absolute highlight of the trip?

Finally meeting Ariadna, our amazing developer from Romania, in person for the very first time! After collaborating across time zones and jumping on countless Zoom calls, getting to actually sit down and connect in real life was incredibly special.

It was also fantastic to catch up and reconnect with some of our favorite global partners and friends in the industry, including Vineet from Frankfurt, Nicole, a brilliant project manager from Germany, and Lumi, a fantastic web developer from Romania. We even got to sit down and grab lunch with our friends and collaborators at GREYD GmbH!

Running a business in Baltimore is our heart, but moments like this remind us how lucky we are to be part of a truly global tech community. We are back in the States feeling refreshed, inspired, and motivated, ready to hit the ground running for the second half of the year!

If the rise of AI search has you worried about your website traffic, you are not alone.

SEO is already a headache for most business owners, and adding ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews to the mix just feels overwhelming. A lot of business owners are worried their websites are about to become completely invisible.

But here is the good news. The fundamental rules of a great website really have not changed.

AI search engines still look for the exact same things regular search engines do. They want fast load times, clean code, and content that actually helps people. If your digital home is built the right way, AI is not a threat. It is just another avenue for your ideal clients to find you.

We put together a guide on the Drio blog breaking down exactly how purpose driven businesses can adapt to AI search. Hit the link in our bio to read the full breakdown.
