A Battle of Art & Sol

The Battle of Art and Sol is part of the First Annual Downtown Saginaw Art Market and Festival. The “battle” is a singles/pairs competition to display the Artist’s talents with the given theme of Fall In…Art and Sol (solar works/green energy) in a three-hour time limit. er 28th, 2013 in Downtown Saginaw’s Morley Plaza Area, behind TV5. A Battle of Art and Sol is a judged event for the grand prize of $500.00. There will also be a People’s choice prize of gift cards to local restaurants and entertainment venues. This portion is won by ticket sale limited to 5 tickets per person. Participation in the Art Battle is limited to the first 15-20 Artists who complete the contract and pay the $30.00 entry fee. Artists also receive an event based t-shirt and a wristband for entrance into First Merit Park for the Fall In…Art and Sol kick off event. The event includes live entertainment till 11:00 and a 100 piece installation of the world’s largest piece of solar art. This event precedes the kick off at First Merit Park (DOW Event Center’s new Amphitheatre) of the regions first “Fall In…Art and Sol” sponsored by the Great Lakes Bay Regional Arts Alliance. Fall In…Art and Sol is a month long celebration as “a way to encourage people to experience the depth of cultural opportunities available across the region.” The event at First Merit begins at 3 pm with music scheduled throughout the entire day. Also showcased that day is the installation of the world’s largest display of solar art—a one hundred piece installation of a work from Jerusalem titled Night Garden.
