Why go to in the winter? This…

It was cold. So the day was mostly spent hopping out of the truck and grabbing a few photos before I (and my gear) froze (haha). My 5D Mark IV ran like a champ in the extreme weather and I was able to get this shot of Undine Falls in Yellowstone National Park, complete with icy fingers of water from top to bottom of the falls. Such a cool (pun intended) scene!

The sun is setting a bit earlier now, so and I took a drive about 2 miles from our home and up into the mountains to find the darkest spot we could to watch the meteor shower last weekend. Definitely saw quite a few meteors, but honestly it was the blanket of stars that was even more impressive.

It was a long day of shooting promo videos and portraits using my 5D Mark IV, but just when I was about to go to bed, I looked outside and saw that the windy conditions earlier in the day had blown out all the clouds and left a perfectly clear Montana sky behind. Who needs sleep when you can be looking up at a view like this in your backyard…

What an amazing first trip to with my 5D Mark IV! Living in Montana, there is so much to see and shoot 📷, but Glacier was otherworldly. Driving along the Going To The Sun Road, at times, made me realize how small and insignificant we are compared to the power of nature and the sheer size of the mountains in that region. Sifting through my photos, I’m feeling like I am already wanting to go back because there is so much to see and do!

And, it’s not just about the glaciers and mountains, as seen in this composition. There are awe inspiring waterfalls and forested areas that rival any other place I have been. Did I mention I can’t wait to go back?

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone is a place that, if you shoot 📷 it once, you can bet it’ll look different the next time you’re there. Maybe it’s the way the sun is hitting the canyon, or how the clouds are layered in the background…the view is always alive and changing…

What a day with perfect weather and shooting 📷 conditions! My 5D Mark IV was with me at every turn, and with some excellent lighting and my 24-105mm lens I shot this scene. I can’t express enough how fortunate we are to live in a state with this kind of beauty.

When you can walk 5 minutes from your front door and see sunset views like this, you know you live in the right place. My 5D Mark IV was in hand at the perfect moment to catch some deer off in the distance too.

Getting those key sunset shots for a new construction real estate listing is both fun and challenging. You need to pick your spot and wait for that perfect moment. It doesn’t hurt to be shooting it with my 5D Mark IV!

Montana is beautiful. Just take a leisurely drive up to mountains and there are compositions for days. As a photographer, you almost have to pull back a bit because otherwise, you’d never get to your actual destination as you would be stopping every two minutes, saying “oh, look at that….now there’s a view! Gotta shoot it!”

Or, just shoot it all because you’re using an 5D Mark IV and you want to see how it will look using this unbelievably awesome piece of gear…
