SCAM!!!

Here's a new one surfacing around Tax Time, which you will likely receive as a text:
------------------------------------------------------
"Internal Revenue Service (IRS)

You are eligible to receive a $1,400 Economic Impact Payment. Please provide your accurate personal information. We will deposit the amount into your bank account or mail a paper check within 1 to 2 business days.

*** Note: Link to their website goes here, but I have removed it so no one accidentally clicks it ***

(Please reply with "Y," then exit the text message. Open it again, click the link, or copy it into your Safari browser and open it.)"
------------------------------------------------------
The IRS already knows everything about you. They are not going to send you a text requesting "accurate personal information". Nor are they going to email or call you. IRS corespondents come via mail.

Remember, if you receive this via text, they have your phone number. If you receive this via email, they have your email. They are looking for as much information about you as they can get so they can impersonate you and take over your accounts.

Don't fall for it! Report as junk and delete! Save yourself the time and frustration.

SCAM!!!

This is one that has been in rotation for quite some time. There aren't as many grammatical errors in this one, so it's not as easy to spot this scam at first.

Another thing to look for in this case, is threats:
- threats to cancel your account
- threats to take certain actions if you don't update information
- etc.

Additionally, most of these are looking for you to update information. Remember, these hackers only have your email address and are looking for additional information to pose as you. When you click the link and update, you are providing them with just that. NEVER click a link in a suspicious email for this reason.

You can always log into your account directly and look for the appropriate information. However, you will likely find nothing that relates to what this email is telling you.

SCAM!!!

Another email posing as our friends at Amazon. This one provides a link instead of a phone number. As previously stated, never click these links. Simply go to your Amazon account directly and try to find information there. If there is nothing available via your account, then it's nothing to worry about.

Also, I can't say this enough, look at the grammatical errors. Always a tell tale sign.

SCAM!!!

Here is another one posing as Best Buy's Geek Squad. As previously stated, always look at the grammar in these suspicious emails. It's always a dead giveaway that it's a scam. See if you can spot the many grammatical errors in this notice.

Also, you can check your bank accounts and verify that the money has not been taken out. Never call the phone number provided.

SCAM!!!

This is an email that looks like it's legitimately from Amazon, as they use the actual logo. However, if you simply log into your Amazon account, you will see it's not locked at all.

Also, if you're ever uncertain.. check for type-o's and bad grammar. For example, the link it gives you to click says "Verification my account" vs Verify my account.

Another tip I have, would be to never click a link provided in an email to update any sort of information. You can always go directly to the sight or app in question, and do it there, where you know it's safe.

SCAM!!!

This is a bit more obvious be cause it was sent to 388 people, which would mean that every one of those transactions would have the same invoice number and transaction ID. It's just not realistic, but people still fall for it.

Check your accounts if you want to verify the money is still there, but do not call the phone number under any circumstances.
