The hardest lesson I had to learn as a Graphic Designer.
My journey as a graphic designer started out in the vehicle wrap industry working with advertising agencies for the last 8 years. All great experiences, with some hard lessons learned. These agencies mainly focused on developing quantity over quality. The responsibility I had for these projects was to give customers what they wanted or what they thought they wanted.
With no real strategy, no analysis of their business, no clear direction. Their messaging was chaotic, and their businesses brand was suffering. I did my job, pushed out design after design and then found myself burnt out, losing my creativity and regretting my decision of being a designer, and longing for something more.
I began to think I was the problem, and that I wasn’t really a designer. I thought of changing career paths and giving up in the design industry all together. Until I started to ask myself, why I wanted to be a designer in the first place.
The answer was simple, I wanted to help small businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups build their dreams, and discover their possibilities through effective strategies and designs.
I wanted purpose-driven, valuable designs that solved the problems for my clients. I didn’t want to just create, I wanted to build action plans, that will allow these clients to grow and move forward in their business. So, in 2022 I decided it was time to fly solo and work for myself. Focusing on what I felt was important, impactful and made a difference.
Instead of pumping out meaningless designs. I now have the freedom to help direct small businesses, entrepreneurs, and start-ups in understanding the importance of establishing a brand that has purpose, intent, and drives-results for their future success. It’s not just about creating pretty visuals; it is about making sure that their brand is built on a solid foundation for continued growth.
When developing your brand, it is important to understand that your foundation starts with your vision, mission, values, visuals, and messaging. It is not just about creating a logo but building authentic, meaningful, emotional connections with your audience. Telling your story through your brand in ways that sets you apart from the norm. Your brand is an investment for long-term success. If your brand is inconsistent, and lacking a solid foundation your brand, and your business is suffering.
That is why I do what I do. To help others fall in love with their brand, understand their true purpose, and help guide brands towards success.
