"TechBuffalo will be in a better place to help create an additional wave of innovation and train the talent to serve it. It’s coming at a time when TechBuffalo’s impact continues to grow after already serving nearly 10,000 individuals who have enrolled in its programs, pathways and conferences.

“The density is building and the opportunity for talent is growing, and now as part of this $100 million bet, we get to help build the bench,” Botteron said."

This summer, TechBuffalo and the Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship are running the BusinessReady Tech Design Challenge, a hands-on series where students use today's AI tools to solve real problems submitted by Western New York startups.

You don't need any coding experience. If you're curious about business, entrepreneurship, marketing, data, or tech, you'll spend the day (or two) working in a small team with mentors from TechBuffalo and Golisano, then pitch your solution to a panel of judges.

Each session also includes a tour of our Buffalo campus, a Metro Rail ride through downtown, time to connect with local entrepreneurs, and lunch on us.

The details: 125 Washington St, Buffalo. 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Free to attend.

Three opportunities to join:

July 29, Accelerated Discovery Day 1, a one-day innovation sprint: https://hubs.ly/Q04p4KMg0

August 4-5, Two-Day AI Deep Dive, with time to interview the client and refine your pitch: https://hubs.ly/Q04p4hNP0

August 18, Accelerated Discovery Day 2, another one-day sprint: https://hubs.ly/Q04p5p6K0

That's a wrap on our second PowerUpTech Tech Design Challenge of the summer! Teams of interns worked on real-world problems from nonprofit partners Girl Scouts of Western New York, United Way of Buffalo & Erie County, and the 43North Foundation and pitched their solutions to a panel of judges.

A huge thank you to all our nonprofit partners, coaches, judges, employers, and (of course) interns! Buffalo's future is bright and the Tech Design Challenge shows exactly why.

Over the last 2 days, we took 200+ interns from 65+ companies through Ingram Micro's new downtown office for our PowerUpTech Intern Foundations events.

Interns participated in AI workshops across Microsoft CoPilot, Google Gemini, and Claude and learned power skills on project management, collaboration in the workplace, and more.

A HUGE thank you to all our presenters and the Ingram team for opening their door to the emerging talent of our region, showing them the opportunity and momentum here in Buffalo.
