George Petrotta, 78, of Florence, passed away on Saturday, December 30, 2023, at McLeod Hospice House.
Mr. Petrotta was born in Rochester, New York, a son of the late George Petrotta and Genevieve Triano Petrotta. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Avis Simmons Petrotta; son, Jimmy Permenter; son-in-law, Mike Wainright; siblings, Paul, Jim, and Sue.
George was a loving father and husband. He was also a United States Air Force veteran. Mr. Petrotta was a grandmaster in martial arts and loved teaching martial arts to others. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to McLeod Hospice and especially Jessie Tanner.
Surviving are his daughters, Avis Lynn Wainright, Sheila Watson, Lisa Lawless, Geordan Petrotta, and Natasha (Eddie) Shannon; grandchildren, Clayton (Amanda), Jennifer (William), Katlyn, Tyler, and Anthony; great-grandchildren, Addison, Mia, and Ava; grand puppy, Bella; special friends, Sylvia and Anthony Lawson, Dottie (Leo) O’Neal, Brian Penick and family, Dr. Brian Wall and family, Glen Wall and family, and Melvin Wells and family; and the Derman Hodge family.
A graveside service will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2024, at 11:00 AM. The family will speak with friends following the service.
