Goodbye Chrome!
I have been using both Chrome and the Microsoft Edge browser, which comes with Windows 10, for sometime now. I really like the look, feel, and speed of the Microsoft Edge browser, but there were certain things I still needed Chrome for. Here are a couple.
First, profiles. In Chrome, I had the ability to add multiple profiles. Why is this important? Well, I have to log onto Office 365 with different accounts, depending on which client I am working on. Having a separate profile for each client, allows me to have a separate start page with office 365 quick link that, when clicked, opens office.com and logs me in the credentials for the that client. This is a great time saver.
The second reason I was still using Chrome, is that I found that certain websites either did not perform as well under Microsoft Edge or had certain functions which did not work. For example, when creating business cards, You are supposed to just drag and drop your logo onto the card you were creating and on the page I was using, this did not work in Edge but did work in Chrome.
I would say that I used Edge for about 90% of my online activity. Now, that will be 100%! Want to know why?
Microsoft has decided to stop using it's own browser engine in Edge and is moving to the Chromium browser engine, which as you might have guessed from the name, is the same browser engine used in Chrome. That means that I get the great look and feel of edge with the compatibility of Chrome. I have been using and testing in now for a few days and have found all of the reasons I still had Chrome installed, to be COMPLETELY GONE!
You to can start to experience this brand new browsing experience too, by downloading and installing the Chromium based Microsoft Edge browser from here: https://www.microsoftedgeinsider.com/
So, go get it today and start enjoying the best of both worlds in one AWESOME browser, just like me!
Reminder. This is Beta software and, although I have not had any issues myself yet, issues are still a very real possibility. Either way, the future of internet browsing looks very bright.
