Am I the only person that used to struggle with selecting clients?!
When I first started freelance design work, I CHOSE EVERY client that had a deposit.
EVERY👏🏾LAST👏🏾ONE👏🏾
SOMETIMES, that worked in my favor. But the times that it didn’t, I paid with my time and sanity.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a paid invoice. However, I’ve learned, over time, that while money is great, solid client relationships are better.
Now, I’m very particular about clients I collaborate with.
When I have a consultation call, I can gauge who’s serious, who’s ready and who I will be the best fit. I’d like to say, I’m a dope designer and love what I do, but I’m not for everyone.
Clients that have great energy and we connect, almost immediately, I get excited because I know we are going to create some awesome projects. Those clients, I can almost anticipate their design needs. Their brand is engrained in my mind, I can design for them without thought. Those clients are gold and I hold them near and dear to my heart.
For everyone that is a client or has worked with me in the past, I hope I provided a great experience. You all make being a designer more enjoyable than I could imagine.
