Most times, I enjoy a good challenge. Most techs would tell you to get a new laptop. Tonight's service call is an HP Laptop that has a failing fan. Running horribly slow.
My recommendation is a new battery, cooling gan, ram and hard drive.
First and foremost, yes it is a laptop, it doesn't mean you place it on your laptop on top of your blanket during the winter time and tell me that it was great, it kept your legs warm.
The reason why it was doing this is because all the cigarette smoke, dust, cat or dog dander and other debris as well as the blanket particles get sucked into the bottom and start clogging up the fan, causing it to run slower and work harder to cool your laptop ,( basically you're killing the laptop by depriving the air it needs to keep the processor cool whole operating the laptop).
One this note its NOT A LAP WARMER. Like any electronic device it needs proper ventilation to operate correctly. It's not meant for yoy to stack papers on it while it is connected to a docking station because you're only using the monitor.
Please hear me on this. It could catch fire and you may be harmed.
Let the device breathe. I will order a fan and clean this like the day they bought it. But there is goid chance that all of the solder points on the main board expanded and it may be a loss.
Luckily for me, I know how to find the parts where to find them quickly
Example): A brand new Battery is sitting in a warehouse for $18.01 and brand new fan is $14.79, the hard drive is $43.99 and lastly the 16 GB Ram is 64.99. So for 142 dollars and change plus my labor this can be a new laptop again. I attached a pic what new clean fan looks like.
