Vehicle wraps are some of our all-time favorite projects to do, so today I’m sharing what was probably our most challenging, but most satisfying wrap jobs (so far)!

Shortly after opening our brick and mortar shop in Powell, we were contacted by The Daily Growler to put together a wrap design for a truck they had just bought that they were converting into a mobile tap room. The “truck” was an old emergency vehicle that had been outfitted with multiple beer taps on the outside that would connect to kegs stored on the inside so they could take the party wherever they wanted. Pretty cool.

The vehicle they purchased was old (1970s, I think) and in pretty bad shape, but we sanded down all the rusted and worn spots well enough to be able to get a full vinyl wrap on it in just under a week – and the transformation was just stunning. We designed the entire layout from scratch, handled all the vehicle preparations, and performed the install in record time.

Unfortunately, The Daily Growler passed on giving us a “free-for-life” card for all this work - but that’s okay! We’re proud of the work we did for them and are sharing this with you today to show you what we can do for you and your business!

I'll never forget my time working at Piercology. They gambled on a dude who wanted to change his life and offered me the chance apprentice to become a professional body piercer. My life wouldn't be where it is today without that opportunity and I'll forever be grateful.

Naturally, I was happy to put my graphic design skills to use for them to show my appreciation, so before our first shop attendance at the Hell City Tattoo Festival here in Columbus, I designed these shirts for all of us (and our clients)!

Apparel design is one of my favorite projects because not only can it promote something YOU'RE passionate about, but it allows the opportunity for others who are equally as passionate to show their love as well. I'm not sure if these shirts are still in circulation, but if you have one, just know that I appreciate you buying one just as much as I'm sure Piercology does!

Hey friends and friends to be!

The design project I’m sharing today is special for a couple different reasons. These storefront graphics and signage were for a salon in Cary, North Carolina that belonged to my sister. Family is incredibly important to me, so when my sister said she was opening her own salon, I was more than happy to lend my support in designing her a logo she could be proud of. Admittedly, I got a little carried away because I think I must have created a dozen or so different proofs for her to pick through, but ultimately, we decided that simplicity and cleanliness would be the best route to represent her individual style and professional representation.

Now – with her being in North Carolina and me being here in Ohio, it wasn’t possible for me to do the installation myself, but I was able to precisely layout the graphics for a local (to her) shop that did a fine job in my absence – and they were even able to use my files to create the illuminated channel lettering above the store. I was able to snap these pictures when I came to visit for a family holiday later that year and was incredibly pleased with the care they put into this project!

That being said, I ABSOLUTELY offer my design services for clients and businesses outside of Ohio! Your satisfaction with the quality of my finished work is essential, so I even handle contacting a shop in your area to facilitate communication and consistency until the job is done. I’m quite fluent in speaking “designer lingo”, so there’s no need for you to spend your time figuring all that out when you have much more important details to focus on!

Hey all!

Having re-opened Animagus Designs for graphic work, I wanted to share one of my favorite custom projects - because you may work as a designer for years and rarely be presented with the opportunity to do something so unique. I did these vinyl storefront graphics for a tattoo shop / oddities gallery in London, Ohio a few years ago. Sadly, the shop is no more, but I still have these pictures of the completed work to be happy about!

The logo and design were created by the shop's owner, but it was a fun (and lengthy) adventure digitizing it (essentially re-creating it entirely) to a vector format in order to actually cut the vinyl, so I'll shamelessly take credit for that part of it!

Storefront window graphics are one of my favorite projects to take on because it's akin to having a completely blank canvas to create on - and the fact that it generates so much interest from potential clients and customers is an undeniably essential aspect. Today's logo redesign is the Tyrell Corporation logo from the movie "Bladerunner". It's not a screen-accurate version as I found a couple of the font styles to be impossible to find (perhaps they were created for the movie?), but I think the substitutions I found look decent enough to go with. I left it as a black and white logo because the texture and color options are virtually limitless.

Today's logo recreation is for The Bureau of Paranormal Research & Defense (BPRD) from the "Hellboy" comics/movies.

Like a lot of logos I find, there are a few different variations of it and sometimes it can be hard to sort through what is authentic and what is fan-made. This isn't a screen-accurate version from the movies as far as I remember, but I liked the layout, so decided it would be the one to do. I was going to incorporate some texture to the logo for a more 3D effect, but nothing I was using made it look right, so here's the logo in its 2-color vector format.

So - today's project includes a few different logos from the "Back To The Future" movies. To be honest, there is SO much graphic work in these movies that are a real treat for a designer like me to recreate, but for now, here are just a few:

The first is the "Mr. Fusion" logo on the back of the Delorean that Doc Brown uses to fuel the time machine. The second is the futuristic Pepsi Perfect logo from "Back To The Future II" (using Pepsi's real PMS colors for accuracy). The last image isn't a screen-used logo that I've seen, but thought the Flux Capacitor logo would look good as a decal, so I mocked one up.

I'll likely be coming back to this one to do some more logos - and I even plan on laying out the design for Marty's hoverboard in "Back To The Future II", but that one is deceptively complex from a design aspect, so that one will take a little while to design to screen-accurate standards.

Because I'm such a big fan of the "Predator" and "Aliens" franchises, I was excited to recreate the logo for Weyland-Yutani. For those not familiar, it's the "company" that was the villain in the Aliens movie franchise that was willing to sacrifice the crews to obtain the alien to use as a bioweapon. It's the same company that was seeking out the Predator in the AVP movie series.

As if I'm not a big enough nerd already, one piece of trivia I wanted to share that not many people know about is that Weyland-Yutani also crosses over into the "Firefly" universe - which makes it especially sad that the show only lasted one season because there could very likely have been an Alien/Predator crossover at some point!

From a design standpoint, this logo wasn't too incredibly difficult to recreate, so I spent some time working with different texture overlays to give it a more 3D/worn look. Pretty happy with the result! I think both logos would look good as a t-shirt design.

Quick rendering of the "Wayne Enterprises" logo from Christopher Nolan's Batman movie series.

There are a TON of variations of this logo spanning the comic book series and various movie incarnations, but this was the one that was most memorable to me. Plus, I found a decent screen-capture of it, so I thought it would be a good choice for a side-by-side comparison.

There is an alternate version of the logo for the "Applied Sciences Division" that I might tackle a little later that I think would be a good style to use for prop displays for memorabilia collectors.
