A big part of what we do is education for small businesses, and the subject of the day? Cyber insurance!

Cyber insurance is a financial safety net. It helps cover recovery costs and legal fees after a security breach, but it won't stop the ransomware from encrypting your files. It won't prevent a phishing email from handing over your credentials. And unfortunately it won't protect your clients' data from being stolen.

Think of it like car insurance. It helps after the accident, but it doesn't stop you from getting hit.

Here's a common timeline: a business gets hit, they file a claim, and then they discover the fine print. Many cyber policies now require proof of security controls before they'll pay out. No multi-factor authentication? Claim denied. No endpoint protection? Good luck.

Real protection means layered security: patched systems, monitored networks, tested backups, and someone watching your environment around the clock.

At NTPC Tech, we work with DFW businesses to build that protection before it's ever needed. Because the best insurance claim is the one you never have to file.

There's one moment every small business owner knows all too well.

It's 10am on a Tuesday, and someone's computer won't connect. The shared drive is acting up. The office manager is trying to get a hold of a real person for quick support, but she keeps getting a chatbot or transferred around. And the owner is trying to run a business in the middle of all of it.

That's life for many small businesses before they find a managed IT partner. It's not always dramatic outages, but rather a slow, steady drain. The kind where nobody notices how many hours a week are quietly disappearing into tech problems that shouldn't be anyone's job to solve.

We work with businesses across DFW who used to live in that space. The shift they describe after partnering with NTPC isn't usually about one big fix, but about what stops happening. The stress of troubleshooting stops. The "who do I call?" questions stop. Owners stop wasting mental energy on unplanned daily detours.

What they get back is Time. Focus. Productivity. And ultimately the ability to do what they actually built their business to do. Let us help you get you those hours back!

Quick question for business owners in Denton.

When was the last time someone actually looked at how your business data is protected? Not the policy in the handbook. The real setup. The actual workflows!

Most businesses we talk to fall into three groups. Those who have looked recently and know exactly where they stand. Those who suspect there are gaps and haven't gotten to it. Those who assume they're covered because nothing has gone wrong yet.

The second and third groups are where incidents happen.

If you're not sure which group your business fits into, let's talk!

For many businesses in Denton, we function as the IT department, not the vendor they call when something breaks. That perspective is how we know two things: the risk is real, and the fix is usually within reach.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month. According to state health data, approximately one in five Texas adults experienced some form of mental illness in the past year. Yet over a quarter of Texans report being unable to access the mental health counseling or treatment they need.

We work in an industry that moves fast, demands a lot, and doesn't always leave room to talk about the harder stuff. But the people behind the screens matter more than any project or deadline. In our digital world, it is more important than ever to reach out to friends, family, and community. Nobody should suffer in silence.

We are proud to be a sponsor of the 2026 Denton County LOSS Team Music and Arts Festival happening right here in our community.

The LOSS Team does something that matters deeply: they show up for people in Denton County who have lost a loved one to su***de and make sure no one has to carry that grief alone. This festival is how they keep that work going.

It's on May 16th from 12pm to 6pm at Harvest House in downtown Denton. Live music, local artists, and a cause that deserves every bit of support we can give it. Tickets are just $10, and kids under 12 (or students) get in free.

If you're in the area, come out. If you can't make it, consider grabbing a ticket anyway. Every dollar goes directly toward supporting survivors in our community.

It started with a router no one thought about. Tucked in a server room, humming quietly, was a firewall that hadn't received a security update in a couple years. It wasn't flagged to be replaced. It wasn't remembered at all! What once was a layer of protection had become a security window to sneak through.

This is the story playing out across small businss networks everywhere. It's exactly why CISA just stepped in to issue a federal directive requiring agencies to hunt down and remove every network edge device that manufacturers no longer support.

Routers. Firewalls. Network switches. These are the unsung guardians of your business infrastructure, which when left outdated, can become your greatest liability.

At NTPC Tech, we believe the best time to address a vulnerability is before it's exploited. Is your organization's equipment still supported? Let's chat!

A small business owner we know put off upgrading from Windows 10 for months. Not because he didn't care; he was just busy. It didn't feel urgent.

It felt urgent in February when ransomware locked every machine in his office. The attackers had exploited a Windows 10 vulnerability that Microsoft stopped patching back in October 2025. His systems never stood a chance.

Two weeks offline. Thousands in recovery costs. And customers who didn't come back.

The upgrade would have taken a weekend.

Windows 10 is no longer supported. Every day it stays in your environment is a day you're running without a safety net. We help businesses get ahead of exactly this kind of risk before it turns into a crisis.

Don't be the cautionary tale. Reach out and let's chat.
