If you haven’t heard, GM is fully phasing out Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in their future EVs. They have a lot of excuses, but it all boils down to having the ability to track (and possibly sell) user data and offer extra subscriptions. It’s garbage. I’m on my 4th GM car and never had a reason to look elsewhere until this.

The most immediate inconvenience is renting cars when traveling. Being able to plug in your own device to use your preferred navigation app is a huge deal, and GM doesn’t seem to care. I’m still hoping they’ll come to their senses eventually, but it’s something to be aware of over the next few years. Thankfully, other automakers are listening to customers.

Ford CEO Jim Farley says the automaker is committed to keeping Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in its cars, which is in direct opposition to General Motors’ recent decision to drop the popular features. GM is reeling from its announcement to eliminate the option for Apple and Android integration, a...

It's the most wonderful time of the year! New iPhones are right around the corner with a reveal event rumored for September 12th. If you're a Pro iPhone user, this is probably the best year to upgrade since the iPhone X...but for me, it's going to be a tough one.

I can’t believe it’s already that time of year again. We’re (allegedly) just 3 weeks away from the announcement of the iPhone 15 lineup, and as has become custom over the past bunch of years, we mostly know what to expect. The Pro iPhones will see the biggest changes since the introduction of ...

It’s a classic case of protecting people from themselves. In iOS 16.2, AirDrop’s “Everyone” option will now automatically turn off after 10 minutes. If you truly enjoyed receiving random obscene photos on subways and airplanes…sorry.

Third party keyboards have offered haptic feedback in the past, but Apple finally built it into iOS 16. Enabling it gives you a slight vibration with each key press, making typing on glass a more tactile experience.

Apple's new Emergency SOS via Satellite feature is the kind of thing you hope you never need, but if you do, it sure is nice to have.

In what appears to be the first reported use of Emergency SOS via Satellite, a snowmobiler in Alaska was successfully rescued when he became stranded in an extremely isolated area. Alaska State Troopers received an alert from the Apple Emergency Response Center in the early hours of yesterday mornin...

Passkeys are coming to 1Password next year. Not familiar with Passkeys? They basically make it possible to log into your accounts using built-in biometrics like FaceID or TouchID rather than typing a username and password. There's a great explainer video on this page. If you don't already use 1Password, now is as good a time as any to get started!

How 1Password is working to make passwordless sign-ins secure, accessible, and freely interoperable.

Have you ever used your iPhone’s volume buttons to turn down the volume, only to get a loud phone call that scares the crap out of you?

It’s important to note that, by default, the iPhone’s hardware volume buttons don’t control system volume like ringtones and other alerts!

To change your system volume, go to Settings > Sounds & Haptics and adjust the volume using the slider there. You can also enable the “Change with Buttons” toggle so that the volume buttons will also control system volume.

You can never be too careful!

One of the benefits of using Apple devices is tight security, but no matter how secure a device is, there’s nothing that can protect against bad habits. No amount of anti-virus software or other security measures can protect you if you willfully click a link in a phishing email and give a thief yo...

The more I’ve thought about the current state of Mac desktops, the more glaring the lack of an M1 Pro option has become. Most of the tech pundits I follow focus on the video capabilities of Macs, so they’ve all been blown away by the Mac Studio with its M1 Max and M1 Ultra options…and rightly ...

Apple just updated the iPad Air, bringing it even closer to the 11-inch iPad Pro in terms of features. If you're in the market for a medium-sized iPad, here's a feature comparison to help you decide.

Apple updated the iPad Air at its spring “Peek Performance” event on Tuesday, bringing it even closer to the 11-inch iPad Pro in terms of features and specs. If you’re considering a new medium-sized iPad, it can be tough to choose between the two. Here’s a quick feature comparison that might...

If you have AT&T or Verizon (and you live in a certain area and have a 5G iPhone with a compatible plan), you may start seeing better 5G performance.

AT&T and Verizon are rolling out C-Band 5G as of yesterday. C-Band is considered the goldilocks part of the spectrum for 5G service, and it's the reason T-Mobile has been smoking the other guys in terms of 5G performance.
