Brainwave entrainment is a topic I’ve become deeply fascinated by. The more I’ve dug into the research, the more it’s shaped how I think about what we build.
One frequency in particular has captured the attention of neuroscience: 40Hz. The gamma rhythm. The brain’s signature of focused attention, memory consolidation, and higher cognitive function.
Over the past decade, peer-reviewed research (much of it from MIT) has shown that stimulating the brain at 40Hz through light, sound, or physical vibration can clear toxic proteins, preserve neurons, improve motor function in Parkinson’s models, relieve chronic pain through a newly discovered brain pathway, and slow cognitive decline in early human trials.
This is published-in-Nature, Phase III clinical trial territory. Not fringe wellness theory.
As someone who handcrafts vibroacoustic therapy equipment and works with .innovations stroboscopic light technology, it’s been exciting to watch this research converge. The science is validating the mechanisms these tools engage.
