The Tech Camp / NH CREATES team had a great time at the annual New Hampshire INBRE (IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence) annual meeting earlier this week in Bretton Woods!

Three of our teachers presented at the event alongside their students, showcasing the innovative work we are doing in our programs. This event is always a great opportunity to network and learn from other educators, students and researchers in the biomedical research community!

In addition to our student programs at UNH Manchester this summer, we recently wrapped up a paid professional development program for middle and high school STEAM teachers.

Nine educators participated in the Manchester Tech for Teachers program, focused on two rapidly growing fields—regenerative medicine and biofabrication—as well as project-based learning.

Over two weeks, participants gained insights from industry experts, UNH faculty and program alumni, while also diving into hands-on laboratory exploration. They put that knowledge into practice by developing curriculum they’ll bring back to their classrooms and share with students in the year ahead!

We wrapped up our second—and final—session of Tech Camp on the UNH Manchester campus last Friday, and we’re still playing catch-up after two action-packed weeks!

It was great to work with such an energetic, curious and engaged group of students who were eager to roll up their sleeves and dive into a range of STEM topics. They brought a lot of enthusiasm and creativity to every program—all offered at no cost to students in the Manchester School District!

That’s a wrap on our second and final week of Tech Camp in Durham!

We had more than 50 students participate in five projects, including TechSplorers, Data Detectives and the Dinah Whipple STEAM Academy, which was divided into three groups: Jr. Innovators, Smart Systems and Resilient Communities.

In addition to our own teachers, we also welcomed volunteers from LEGIT (Liberty Mutual Engages Girls in Technology), who spent time engaging with our younger campers.

Coming up next is Manchester Tech Camp, running August 3–14! At the same time, we'll also be hosting the Manchester Tech for Teachers Institute for middle and high school STEM teachers.

It’s been an action-packed first week of Tech Camp in Durham! In total, we welcomed 62 students across five projects, exploring subjects ranging from bioinformatics and cryopreservation to engineering, physics, remote-controlled cars and more.

Our TechSplorers program for students in grades 5–7 kept busy with a wide variety of hands-on STEM activities. Participants also enjoyed special sessions led by guests from Unchartered Tutoring, where they learned the art of scientific illustration, and LEGIT (Liberty Mutual Engages Girls in Technology), which introduced them to the exciting world of machine learning with AI.

Our TechLeaders program for high school students gained valuable skills through a college essay writing workshop with UNH Admissions and enjoyed a panel discussion featuring alumni and current students from the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences. Panelists shared insights on STEM majors, college life, and the many career pathways available in engineering and the sciences.

Our Zoom Lens and Artificial Intelligence programs are part of New Hampshire’s Extended Learning Opportunities (ELO) initiative, giving students the chance to earn credit through structured, hands-on learning experiences connected to their interests and future goals.
