We are excited to share that our latest project, Abarrotes Remedios, is now live on Behance!

Abarrotes Remedios was an installation and exhibition presented as part of “The Edge Is the Center” at the Rubin Center for the Visual Arts at the University of Texas at El Paso, from January through April 2026.

We are deeply grateful to Kerry Doyle, Ana Gaby Becerra, and Andrés Payan for the invitation to be part of this incredible exhibition.

Abarrotes Remedios was created following an invitation from .rubincenter to participate in The Edge Is the Center, a collective design exhibition curated by Ana Gaby Becerra and Andrés Payan, which opened in January 2026. Developed as a pop-up tiendita, Abarrotes rEMEdios – Diseño que cura (“rEMEdies”-Design that heals) draws inspiration from the Mexican neighborhood corner stores where we grew up, reimagined as a space that blends nostalgia, design, and interaction.

The installation features elements such as baskets, wheat paste posters, piñata, candy machine, newspapers, and television; recreating a familiar experience for many visitors. Every detail was designed to create an emotional connection with the audience.

Abarrotes Remedios, invites visitors to engage playfully with the space: to look, touch, and interact as if stepping into a real corner store. Visitors can even take home printed newspapers and stickers as souvenirs.

More than an installation, the project is a tribute to our roots, our story, the designers and collaborators that have worked with us for the last 15 years and the ongoing evolution of EME’s creative practice.
