Some of you may know that I am teaching graphic design and marketing classes at Upper Iowa University.

My New Product Development class worked in groups to create products based on a few constraints. The market was targeted toward older persons with physical disabilities, the product had to use corn or wheat, it had to involve little to no processing or manufacturing additions, and would need to be quick to market. They then designed boxes for said product containing instructions, precautions of use, promises, and a slogan. Here is what they came up with!

I can’t wait to see how their group projects over the session turn out!

I took the HIGH5 test (https://test.high5test.com/) along with my New Product Development class. Here are my results:

1. Brainstormer
Brainstormers get excited when asked to come up with ideas where the sky’s the limit. They enjoy connecting the seemingly unconnectable, and quickly get bored by close-minded people and standard practices.

2. Philomath
Philomaths love learning. They explore many interests, follow new paths and acquire as much knowledge as possible. They don’t enjoy the company of so-called 'know-it-alls’, people with little curiosity and no desire to explore new ideas.

3. Thinker
Thinkers enjoy mental activity, intellectual discussions and time alone in reflection. They find it difficult to work in teams that tend to act before thinking.

4. Catalyst
Catalysts love to get things started and are great at creating momentum in stagnant environments. They have a hard time waiting and so-called ‘wasting time’ when they know they could be moving forward and getting things off the ground.

5. Strategist
Strategists look at the big picture, which enables them to easily find the best way out of the clutter. Because connecting the dots comes naturally to them, they may get impatient with people who make slower decisions.
