We frequently upgrade computers with mechanical hard drives to solid state drives. The data and files is exactly as it was on the old hard drive. Huge speed improvement by doing this. It feels like a faster, newer computer when this is done. Another benefit is having more free space with a solid state drive that is bigger than your old drive.
