The Trail House® web project had all the things: a quick timeline, surprising technical difficulties, SEO, a 40th anniversary, creative copywriting, childhood friendships, socks, drool-worthy outdoor photography, and Boss… the dog. 🐕‍🦺

The Trail House is in its second generation of ownership with Drennan and Catie Hicks, and I am beyond excited to see how their story grows. Having been a shopper of the Trail House for many years (I may have played hide and go seek in the stacks of sleeping bags back in the day), I urge you to check them out for all their outdoor adventures.

Good people, great products, and a shop dog. What more could you ask for?

So pleased to finally share this with you, the BAMF team at Elite Performance Institute 💪 launched a new brand and we couldn’t be more pleased.

This team knows how to hustle. With youth athlete re-injury at an all-time high, they threw in the towel on “traditional” PT (which only gets you walking again), and blended Physical Therapy and Performance Training to prepare athletes to re-enter the chaos of their sport with confidence.

And now, it’s not just for “youth athletes” - anyone that moves can get a personalized training program or get PT. (Even Nick and I have become clients of theirs!) Check them out at Elite Performance Institute - MD

Thanks to the fabulous Origin Design Co , the new brand fits perfectly into the marketing strategy to grow their business from start-up to “crushing it.”

Friends... Wimbly Stoke launched TWO websites yesterday. Count 'em, TWO! It's been around the clock to make sure everything is tip top shape, and we're simply so proud and happy for our clients. ☺️ Can't wait to share more in the coming weeks!

I’ve got a crush on color palettes right now, because color combos are confounding our clients and companions! Because marketers can't afford to hire designers for every single marketing item, we need to make materials on our own. Even though tools like Canva.com make it easier, it's still difficult to create brand consistency, and it can feel paralyzing when the entire visible spectrum of light is at your finger tips.

But really...didn’t we all start out by coloring and joyfully choosing our crayons with ease? (Nick claims that he never liked coloring, so I guess not “all” of us). For most of us, we know what colors we like and dislike. Somewhere deep down, we know what we're doing, we’re just not allowed the freedom or time to make mistakes and figure out what works in our marketing.

We've been working on a quick guide to help everyone create a go-to color palette that will not only protect brand consistency, but it will save you time as well.

By being strategic and creating a plan up front - even with colors - it will make you work faster with less chaos and more results.

But until then, just take a deep breath and remember - you got this! For most of us, coloring used to be fun, and it still can.

An age-old creative debate as old as Michelangelo or even Agatharchus: where does creativity come from? Is it repeatable by practice or is it a lucky spark by the gift of genius? 🧐

Personally, I think it's both, and dang it can be exhausting. Watching one of my favorite documentaries this weekend, I caught some knowledge from Christophe Niemann, who is a brilliant and thoughtful illustrator.

Full quote:
"I sometimes wonder, what if I had to duel my 2006 self in a creative barfight? Maybe I lost some youthful spark, but I would kick my butt."

Why? Because he realized the fear associated with creating and waiting for the "spark" can be beaten by routine practice. Just like athletes, creatives need to practice in order to improve. (Marketers - that goes for us too!)

We know it's not good news for consumers that prices are going up. But businesses have already seen prices increase - from the raw materials to shipping - so it's inevitable that prices will continue to rise.

The good news is that after in-depth consumer studies, Shopify has seen that many consumers are willing to pay higher prices, and even accept the supply chain delays and higher shipping costs.

To anyone that had to deal with people in 2021, you know this is a big shift from the "anyone will blow up at me at any time" mindset of last year.

Remember - we’re about to close the book on 2021, but we get to tell the story of it however we want. Really, it just depends on what we do next.

When we do our job best, marketers are storytellers. It’s our job to get your point across for those that need to hear it.

But right now, we’re all just living, man! Write your own story and hop into this new year with gusto! (Even though personally…I sort of just want to take a nap. 😉)
