No, no, no, no, no! Stay away! Three different people today got this, one got BIT because they fell for it!

Look at the language. "set to expire in 3 day" One, that should be plural; secondly, if it's expiring in three DAYS from now, why does it expire TODAY? Why does the font change at the bottom? Why does it appear to be From: yourself instead of the security email address at Microsoft?

Dealing with scams is an art rather than a science. Be aware, stay on your toes.

More PSA's from your friendly Island Computer Guy but it seems all I talk about are scams... Anyway,

So you get an email from Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc, saying you need to log in again because security, blah, blah.

What's the From: address? Is it [email protected]? What does he have to do with Yahoo? What's the To: address? Is it not you? Why did you get it then? There's one link to 'sign in again', why does it go to Google Docs if you're supposed to sign in to your Hotmail?

DON'T CLICK THE LINK

Just delete it and go on about your day. It's a SCAM. When you do click the Google link and then you have to click AGAIN and it takes you to tricky-products-107935{.}framer{.}app HOW is that Yahoo again?

No! No! NO! Don't give strangers on the internet your password.

Wow, they are getting sneaky. This 'CloudFlare' prove you're a human challenge is not what you think it is. The website you were trying to go to has been hacked. Leave it alone and do not follow the instructions or you're going to have a very bad day.

And then to tag along on the trust front, another case of "MS Tech Support" calling to say a client's computer has a virus but don't worry, they can sell you $400 lifetime tech support...

Don't talk to strangers on the internet! They might not even exist. It might just be a Prompt.

Hard to believe your eyes these days. Nothing in this is real. This is all AI.

Trust is a big thing among humans. You probably don't really think about it though I bet. When trust is eroded, what can you believe?

Prompt Theory (Made with Veo 3)What if AI-generated characters refused to believe they were AI-generated?

There's a fine line between spare parts and junk.

New client is moving so the house is all higgledy piggledy naturally and they can't find a power cord for the computer. No problem, I got you.

Good thing they brought over the monitor too, as that power cord was not the right one. No problem, I got you. Had a spare that matched the specs needed to power the screen.

Hmm, PC won't boot or at least black screen. Video card is dead as well. No problem, I got you. Had a spare light weight nvidia.

It's a fine line of 'do I really need to keep this...?'

Holidays. Great time to increase stress. The scammers know this, so be on your game people. They're hoping you'll not think and react instead.

Latest scam I've seen going around is just straight up Paypal payment requests. This is actual Paypal emails saying you have a payment request, pay this. Have a question? Call this number!

Hint: don't call the number. That's the scam.

They're betting that you have Paypal and that you forgot you bought something, and you'll just give some random internet stranger $299.99.

Easy money if you can get it. Stay vigilant.

C'mon FedEx, do better.

You know where I live, you have the address right on the box. You've been here before. It's NOT the public, shared space bus stop shed down at the end of the road 300' away that the school kids use when it's raining. That is not what I would call 'delivered'.

Painful lesson. Have a backup people! Client's ssd up and died suddenly. Like seriously gone. Had to send it out to a recovery place and maybe they can save it, but will be $1500 if successful.

Instead, get a USB hard drive and have another copy of your data somewhere else before something bad happens! Once a week, spend five minutes and save yourself some pain and mayhem and back up your stuff.

I can help with this and get you set up with an easy to follow method. But get it done before disaster strikes!
