USPS is making shipping mistakes a lot more expensive.
Starting July 12, 2026, merchants could see new USPS fees tied to HAZMAT shipments, missing package dimensions, lightweight Ground Advantage shipments, and bulky packages affected by DIM weight.
The big one? A new $50 HAZMAT noncompliance assessment charge.
That means if you ship products with batteries, aerosols, fragrances, cosmetics, liquids, or other regulated materials, now is the time to make sure your shipments are declared, labeled, and packaged correctly.
