Vintage cassette decks are notoriously difficult to repair, and for active audio shops, the economics often just do not make sense. Hours of labor can disappear into aging belts, failed motors, calibration issues, and hard-to-source parts, turning even a beautiful deck into a money pit. The good news is that cassette is no longer relying entirely on surviving vintage gear. A new generation of cassette decks is being built, and some of them are genuinely impressive, giving tape lovers a way back into the format without inheriting forty years of mechanical headaches.

Happy Memorial Day ❤️

We’ve taken the weekend off.

Today’s bigger than business, so mostly just sending respect to those remembering loved ones.

That said, this weekend also happens to mark one year since we opened our doors.

We’re deeply grateful to everyone who’s visited the shop, hung out in the conversation pit, talked music with us, and supported Bring Back Analog through year one (bumps and all).

Big plans for year two :)

Not all vintage audio eras aged equally. A lot of 90s gear, frankly, earned its reputation for plasticky black boxes and cost-cutting designs. But there were standouts. The occasional Sony CD player -- the wildly-performant Pioneer stack here.

We focus on 70s-80s gear (+ modern), but we also feature those 90s gems that slipped through while the industry raced toward cheaper, lighter, faster.

It's part of what makes this collection so fascinating: Pioneer Elite’s black-glass swagger, a warm Marantz integrated, the brute force of a Citation 16, a beautifully overbuilt Tandberg cassette deck. These pieces span decades, formats, and philosophies, but were all built with intention.

This is a museum of taste and music and history that can act as classy, screen-free centerpieces to your home.
