Windows 10 went the way of Old Yeller in October, and 500 million users aren't eligible for an upgrade according to Microsoft's tech specs (TPM 2.0). Another 500 million have flat out refused to upgrade due to security risks that come with it in exchange for minimal added features.
Windows has always come with its fair share of AI bloatware (preloaded software you didn't ask for and struggle to remove), but now you have more ads, mandatory Microsoft accounts, and Windows Recall that periodically takes pictures of what you have on your screen. They say it will be stored and analyzed locally on your device, but they also said Windows 10 would be the last version you'll need, and here we are...
There are ways to get around the update and the spec requirements, but it's not as accessible to everyday users, and it leaves your device largely unprotected. This isn't practical for many home users or businesses that run Windows, so those 500 million computers are bound to become unless users choose another operating system.
My solution: I'm switching all of my devices to Linux. It's a lot more user-friendly than it has been in the past, and it runs very smoothly on old devices. In fact, I'm only loading Linux on the refurbished devices I sell moving forward. If you want to discuss your options further, feel free to message me.
