The main surface story on the Alfa Romeo Selvatico EV SUV is two concave sections split by lamp graphics. These sections visually split up the otherwise tall package, add a muscular element, and are an inversion of the form seen on the Disco Volante from the 50’s. This in combination with the lower graphic split and hefty sculpting visually lighten the Jeep Wagoneer S platform.

SPUR Design Garage was a fantastic learning experience for me but it’s time has come to pass. With that said, I have a ton of automotive projects going on and I’d love to take you along for the ride!

Meet Alfa Romeo Selvatico, an electric SUV based on the Jeep Wagoneer S, built to tackle the American PNW landscape with elegant Italian flair. Positioned somewhere between the Subaru Outback’s offroad capabilities and a Porsche Macan’s sporty, premium nature, the Selvatico would excel in spirited drives up Mt. Hood or gearing up for bike trips around wine country...
Context: I wanted to challenge myself on pairing the beauty of Alfa Romeo forms with a difficult package, a tall and heavy EV SUV, while also learning a new skill in Blender. Excited to share more on this one!

Redesign Doodles pt. 4: Cadillac Eldorado. Well...I'm not especially in love with this sketch, and minor technical difficulties mean no video this week. Despite that, the idea was to redesign the early 2000s Eldorado, a sleek "personal luxury" cruiser. Utilizing Cadillac's new, slightly softer design language, I integrated bold vertical taillamps (anyone tired of horizontal line light bars?) into a rear surface that has big crystal-like surfaces, a form change interacting with the side DLO, and a crease running down the side profile.

Redesign Doodles pt. 2: Designed by Bill Mitchell, the second generation Chevrolet Bel Air (1955-1957) was an icon of its age, featuring a distinctive two-tone, forward look, inspired surely by the jet age. In this redesign, I attempted to reimagine it as a highly aerodynamic, jet-influenced EV sedan. The two tone remains, although in a more forward directional style. The curved windscreen becomes a separate panel, like a stealth jet, and the pointy bumpers on the original are reinterpreted as a front bumper form change that incorporates venting for the EV motor.

One of the most fulfilling parts of building this business is re-enacting my childhood love of creating things with my hands. There’s something so satisfying and meditative about using your hands and simply focusing on the one thing in front of you. A couple of things I’m focusing on here? Saddle stitching a new Northwesterner card wallet, and finishing debossing logo details on the Flat-Six leather overlay.
