Feature Friday update in Clade’s Planner 🌱

One of my favorite updates to Planner is how easy it is to make changes while I’m actually out in the field.

I can mark rows as planted, update varieties, make edits, and add notes right from Planner as I’m walking through the dahlias.

I don’t have to try to remember everything and update it later which, during a busy growing season, is a huge help.

Little updates like this make keeping my records current so much easier. 🌸

I’ve been thinking a lot about which dahlias are actually earning their space in the field this summer. ☀️🌸

With the heat blazing, I’m curious what you’re seeing on your farms. Which varieties are truly thriving in the extreme heat? Which ones are struggling?

I’d love to hear where you’re growing from and which dahlias are standing up to the heat for you. Drop your favorites in the comments, and please share a photo of your dahlias, too! 📸

I’m especially interested in keeping track of the varieties that handle heat well so we can make smarter decisions about what to grow more of next season, and what might not be worth the space.

Which dahlias are holding up the best this summer?

Let’s compare notes. 👇

Add to next season’s wishlist in Clade 🌸✨

As I’m growing and seeing what catches my eye this season, I’m keeping a running wishlist in Clade for next year.

It’s so much easier than trying to remember every variety I fell in love with, and when it’s time to order, I already have my list ready to go.

Because we all know how quickly that “just one more dahlia” list can grow. 😂

Now’s the perfect time to update your wishlist on useclade.com ✨

How much space do your dahlias really need? 🌸

Proper spacing helps improve airflow, reduces the risk of disease, and gives each plant room to grow and produce beautiful blooms. Whether you're planting a few tubers or filling an entire cutting garden, getting the spacing right makes a difference.

Quickly update your dahlia images 🌸

I’m adding one of the first blooms of the season to Clade so I can keep a visual record of how this variety develops over time.

Early blooms can look so different from the flowers we see later in the season, and having those photos all in one place makes it so much easier to look back, compare, and really get to know each variety.

That’s what I love about Clade: it’s not just tracking what I grow, it’s building a record of my garden. 🌱

I’m so excited for this year’s virtual Designing Dahlias Summit. A chance to learn, be inspired, and connect with other growers and floral designers from all over.

And this year, I’m especially excited that Clade is sponsoring the summit! Clade has become such a helpful part of my own growing season at Holly Park so it feels pretty special to see it supporting an event that brings our dahlia community together.

If you’re joining us, I can’t wait you grow along with us!

Clade’s pro tier newest update: Custom Inventory Fields. 🌱

Now you can build your inventory around the information that matters most to your farm instead of trying to fit your workflow into a one-size-fits-all system.

If you could add one custom field to your inventory today, what would it be? We’d love to hear your ideas in the comments!

Want your dahlias to last longer in the vase? It all starts with how you harvest them.

Here are a few tips I always follow:

🌸 Harvest in the cool morning or evening when stems are well hydrated.

🌸 Cut blooms that are fully open. Dahlias won't continue opening after they're harvested.

🌸 Place stems into clean water immediately.

🌸 Remove any foliage below the water line.

🌸 Keep flowers shaded while harvesting and processing.

One thing I've learned is that every dahlia variety has a different vase life. Some consistently last longer than others, and I wanted a better way to keep track.

That's why we built Clade's Cut Flower Module. It lets you track vase life by variety, so instead of relying on general recommendations, you can build data that's unique to your own farm.

Give Clade a try and see what you discover over time on https://useclade.com/

We would love to hear about your longest lasting varieties in the comments ⬇
