Hi, everyone!

We want to update you on the great progress we've made in the past two weeks.

The prototype Hive has been running 24/7 providing cloud storage, WiFi, and security monitoring since it arrived. We still have a lot of work to do before it's a consumer grade product, but the basic architecture works. We're making rapid progress on all aspects of the project.

We have also been working hard to develop a software agent. This agent will be an ordinary app you install on your PC or Mac which connects your computer to the Honeybee cloud. The agent would allow other apps on your computer to use Honeybee cloud resources, such as cloud storage and processing power.

Hive devices and software agents work together to form and use the Honeybee cloud but there are important differences.

- The Hive is a hardware device that you install as your internet gateway. Each Hive is a moderately powerful server that offers it's excess resources to the Honeybee cloud.
- The software agent is a program installed on your existing device. It makes the Honeybee cloud available to other apps on your computer and optionally shares some of your computer's resources with the cloud.

Users who either own a Hive or share resources through an agent are given a share of Honeybee cloud resources.

The last bit of news is that we are in the process of incorporating. We recently consulted with a lawyer and she is currently preparing a legal package for us. We're very excited to sign the paperwork and become an official company!

The prototype hardware is here!

We reached our initial goal of $600 in under 8 hours! We'd like to thank everyone who has donated so far.

The speed at which we achieved our goal is so encouraging that we're announcing stretch goals. Every donation helps us develop our dream faster. Some of the specific uses for funds we've established so far are:

1) File to officially incorporate our company
2) Start developing cloud infrastructure
3) Consult with an attorney about patents and intellectual property

We are very excited to make this announcement! We are developing a WiFi router and modem combo, like the one you rent from your ISP, that will give you access to a full featured home cloud system. We’ll be able to provide services such as free anywhere, any device cloud storage and a pro-active firewall that blocks attackers before they reach you. Companies would be able to develop apps for and use resources from the cloud formed by the network of these devices.

We think we can attract the attention of angel investors and startup incubators with a physical prototype. We need $600 to develop this prototype. We have a complete budget with detailed specifications here below . We can also use spare parts like USB thumb drives and networking equipment. Please feel free to contact us at [email protected].
