🌟 Business owners! Are you feeling overwhelmed with daily tasks?
Let’s me show you two powerful concepts that will help streamline your operations: the Queen Bee Role (QBR) and the 4D Method! 🐝✨
👉 What’s the QBR?
Your Queen Bee Role is the most critical function in your business—the one task that keeps everything else running smoothly. Think of it like the queen bee in a hive: if she’s thriving, the whole colony flourishes. Identifying your QBR helps you focus on what truly drives your success.
For example, if you run a marketing agency, your QBR will be creating effective campaigns, but not actually executing them—you need to delegate those tasks to your team.
👉 How to Identify Your QBR
🟢 Analyze Your Operations: Look at what activities generate the most revenue or customer satisfaction. What’s the one thing that, if it falters, will impact your business the most?
🟢 Talk to Your Team: Get input from your employees about what they think keeps the business running smoothly. They will often have insights that help you identify key functions.
🟢 Assess Risks: Determine which function, if neglected, will cause the most significant problems for your business. This will shine a light on your QBR.
👉 The 4D Method
This framework helps you manage your time and resources effectively:
🟢 Doing (80%): This is where most of your time goes—handling daily tasks and operations. While necessary, too much time here will lead to burnout.
🟢 Deciding (2%): These are those critical moments when you make important decisions. This should be a small percentage of your time, but it will feel heavy.
🟢 Delegating (8%): This is all about handing off tasks to your team. If you’re still doing everything yourself, it’s time to rethink your strategy!
🟢 Designing (10%): This is where you create systems and processes for company smoother operations without constant oversight.
Finding the right balance among these areas is key! If you're stuck in DOING all day, you won’t have time to DELEGATE or DESIGN your company system that improve efficiency.
💡 Quick Tip: Spend a week tracking how much time you spend in each category. You will be surprised! Remember, time management IS SELF-MANAGEMENT. Manage yourself and not over work!
Yes, people are talking about creating SOPs. But will the team read them? The hard answer is: NO. 😅 This is mostly because there will be changes over time, problems or issues will arise, and they will come back and ask you what to do. Why can't they just decide what's good for the company? Because they are afraid that if things go sideways, they will be fired.
It is essential to recognize their efforts, even when they make an error. A simple acknowledgment, such as "You have figured out a way to avoid making the same mistake again; thank you," is sufficient to encourage them to reach their full potential. 🙌 Of course, if there is something truly important that can affect the future of the company, you need to be present with your team to provide guidance and support. 🤝
I recently chatted with a friend who runs a graphic design firm. She was doing everything herself—client meetings, design work, billing—you name it! 😩 After figuring out her QBR and using the 4D Method, she started delegating tasks to her team and focusing more on building client relationships instead of drowning in daily operations. Now she’s thriving and able to take on more clients! 🎉
Have you tried identifying your QBR or implementing the 4D Method? I’d love to hear your experiences or any challenges you’ve faced!
It's almost Mid-Autumn Festival! 🌕 I'm happy to receive mooncakes from wholesaler HT Seafood - which is a friend and a long-term customer. If you run a market (HMart, Walmart, Aldi, etc) I can hook you up with a good wholesale price! 🦐
