🌎Sustainability in Direct Mail🌎

More marketers will become educated about the environmental impact of direct mail compared to other marketing forms. Few people realize that the electricity used to power digital and video marketing creates more greenhouse gasses than the direct mail industry as a whole. Responsible marketers have several tools at their disposal:

🌿Smarter targeting to reduce mail, email, display ad quantity
🌿Using recycled paper stock — which has improved substantially in the past few years
🌿Using smaller mail pieces — which consume less paper, require less electricity to produce, and weigh less to ship

*It’s important to note that you can be sustainable with your direct mail campaign but still gain a positive ROI. Many companies note on their DM piece that the paper is recycled or that they’re donating X amount to a sustainable business per DM piece. To many consumers this acknowledgement and effort matters.

👇4 tips When Adding Direct Mail to your Marketing Strategy👇

1. Large Postcards (size matters!) Mailing a large postcard (USPS now offers a 6 x 9” First Class Postcard.) gives you more real estate in the mailbox. You can add a QR code, Larger headlines, more copy and images and a strong CTA (for just a few more cents per piece!)

2. Keep your copy more concise. Direct Mail word count has declined by 62% (source: Who’s Mailing What database) Why? People have a short attention span, people read less and rely on images, DM requires focus on essential copy.

3. Tactile, Sensory and Interactive! Gone are the boring, matte, direct mail postcards and in are the attention grabbing DM pieces of today! These forms of direct mail have gained exceptional response rates. USPS is offering a 4% discount on postage through their Tactile, Sensory and Interactives promotion.

4. Plan far out to consider supply chain disruptions. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 our world is still experiencing supply chain issues. That includes printing, mail, etc. Make sure to plan your campaign with this in mind.

📫“Neuromarketing research by Temple University and others shows that physical advertisements influence consumers more than digital ones. Because they are tactile, they leave longer and deeper impressions in the brain, producing both stronger recall and desire for a product or service. With interactive direct mail, you can engage customers in several ways and get them to act.”

📫Direct Mail is Back Baby!📫

No more “Spray and Pray.” Targeted Direct Mail campaigns are the “IT” marketing tactic of 2022!

From the inbox to the mailbox…direct mail is back (well, it never left but it’s making a comeback!) Direct mail has always had the potential to be a powerful marketing tool but today even more so. Many business owners and marketers have a misconception about the direct mail channel. Choosing an integrated marketing campaign to include direct mail gives businesses the opportunity to reach millions of individuals on a more personal level than digital communications can provide alone. While your audience is bombarded with digital messaging all day, direct mail breaks through in an authentic, unexpected, nostalgic and tangible way.

The global direct mail advertising market is expected to grow from $71. 57 billion in 2021 to $72.67 billion in 2022 at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 1.5% The growth is mainly due to the companies rearranging their operations and recovering from the COVID-19 impact, which had earlier led to restrictive containment measures involving social distancing, remote working, and the closure of commercial activities that resulted in operational challenges. The market is expected to reach $73.57 billion in 2026 at a CAGR of 0.3%.

👀ADVERTISING IS FOR EVERYBODY!👀Blogpost Part III

We've shared great tips and tools these past couple weeks but how do you as a business owner navigate and adapt during a Global Pandemic? It feels like all the rules of business have went out the window the past year+ Well, the Pandemic certainly reduced face to face opportunities to reach new customers but at the same time it’s forced business owners and advertisers engage with new audiences, reduce costs, and develop a clear and concise brand online.

Well, as of late, (5) creative advertising trends have emerged. If you haven’t adopted one or more of these trends it might be time to dive in! 💦

1. AI and Programmatic Advertising – Using automated creatives allow for personalized content.

2. Conversational Marketing – People want a conversation. Chatbots are not new, but are becoming a must have for businesses. (LinkedIn introduced conversation ads. Turn conversations into quality conversions)

3. Sustainability – Companies are moving towards more sustainable products and practices and customers and clients love it! 79% of the population are concerned about climate change so authentically moving in this direction and advertising about it is a win.

4. Vertical Mobile Advertising – The vertical 9:6 ratio is here to stay! It fills 75% of the screen and 100% when tapped. Vertical mobile is proven to increase engagement and drive sales. It’s a huge marketing and advertising asset for your business.

5. Interactive Video – There are so many ads running throughout the day on social media that they’re being ignored and scrolled past. Using Facebook Stories, Instagram Reels or Tik Tok as tools for interactive storytelling will likely lead to sales.

💥ADVERTISING IS FOR EVERYBODY!💥Blogpost Part II

Here are 7 reasons to hire a firm that specializes in advertising versus going direct.

1.More in-house expertise – A firm that specializes in advertising will know all of the intricacies and various advertising methodologies.

2. Saves time and money – Business owners can get bogged down in the minutia and if they don’t have experience creating and placing ads, this may not be the best use of their time.

3. More objective – A firm will be more objective when it comes to placing ads, which ads to place and cost.

4. Negotiating – An experienced advertiser will understand media rates and will often be able to pay less than direct to retail companies.

5. Relationships – Most firms have existing relationships with the media that they’ve cultivated over time. They can leverage those relationships to get a better deal.

6. Invested in you – The firm you’re working with is invested in you the client. They care about your business, know your budget and goals. They succeed when you succeed!

7. Be the buffer – It’s good to have an experienced advertising team that can be the buffer between you and the media sales rep.

🗣ADVERTISING IS FOR EVERYBODY! 🗣 Blogpost Part I

Advertising is a means to get your message to a large audience. It’s a very artistic way of communicating with the customer. Advertising serves a critical purpose in the business world. It enables sellers to often compete with one another for the attention of a buyer.

There are 4 main objectives when considering advertising.👇

1. Trial – When new companies try to convince customers to buy a new product or service that they are introducing to the marketplace. The ads are usually flashy and attractive to the eye.

2. Continuity – The goal is to keep existing customers in hopes they will stay with your products or services. The ads will keep bringing something new to the marketplace.

3. Brand Switch – The goal of these ads are to attract customers of your competitors. You want to convince them to switch to your brand.

4. Switching Back – The goal is to win back previous customers through discounts, sales, new packaging, etc.

Many businesses, especially small business owners tend to have smaller marketing budgets than medium to large sized businesses. For this reason, many small business owners try to work directly when it comes to advertising their business. The US Small Business Administration recommends spending 7-8 percent of gross revenue on marketing and advertising.

But First...Mobile! (Final Blog Excerpt)

👉KEEP IT SIMPLE 👈

We can’t emphasize enough the power of keeping it simple! Let us explain further… A simple mobile design is a great way to improve content clarity while helping users focus on content that matters most. Therefore, only keep elements that you really need on your mobile site in order to avoid superfluous content that may distract the user.

Some methods of keeping it simple include:

📲Reducing the number of links in your navigation menu

📲Using as few pages as possible.

📲Two columns of content at most.

📲Use typography that is not too small for mobile.

📲Keep your borders wide and lines clean.

📲Utilize white space to make the layout less cluttered and more readable.

📲Remember, when implementing content-first design to consider the reduced screen size, the content has to be clear and concise with all essential information available at first glance or within a click.

Mobile First (Blog Excerpt III)

Here are 8 tips on managing Facebook Messenger:

1. Be responsive! Customers expect a quick response. Set up notifications. You have the opportunity to earn a “very responsive” badge that Facebook gives you if you have a response rate of 90% and response time of 15 minutes or less consistently over 7 days. This badge tells your customer you care about them and you’re on top of things! Imagine a customer ready to purchase and they have one final question before pulling the trigger and they see that you have a 40% response rate! Now you’ve cast doubt in the customers mind about how you care about them and their purchase. THIS IS WHAT RESPONSIVE MEANS IN 2021

2. 24/7 Support - Be accessible when they need you and you will build trust and confidence in your brand.

3. Shift from inbound phone calls to messaging which is less expensive

4. Customer service solution - One more way to communicate with your customers

5. It’s a powerful pre-sales resource - Move the customer further down the sales funnel

6. Take sensitive talks private - Show the customer you value their business one on one

7. Personalize as much as possible - More about automation later

8. It’s a rich multimedia capable channel - Infuse personality and emotion by using emojis, stickers, images and video during your chat.

But First Mobile (Blog excerpt II)

A mobile-first strategy affects all aspects of your company’s overall strategy.
Take a look at some of the benefits of a mobile-first strategy:

📲Increase your customer reach

📲Google Ranking = Mobile-first indexing means Google will look at the mobile version of a website in order to rank it before the desktop version.
*By using Mobile-first as a design strategy, web designers can greatly increase the chances of a website ranking higher on Google. (We could almost stop here!)

📲User relationship building – Consumers are more likely to shop and return to businesses who have a mobile-friendly website. UX (User experience in mind.)

📲Provide an exemplary customer experience – Provide a quick load time, captivating visuals, prioritized contact information.

📲Greatly increase your conversion rates – There are different needs of people searching on mobile versus desktop.

But First...Mobile

How and why creating a mobile-centric digital strategy can change the face of your business. (Read the entire blog post here: https://kwirx.com/2021/09/but-first-mobile/)

Have you ever looked at a business website on your mobile device and thought...this is awful! Hard to read, images are blurred, content is hard to digest, then you move on. We can’t imagine a single business that would want a potential customer to “move onto” the next business. Let’s make sure that doesn’t happen to you!

What does Mobile-first mean? It’s developing a website where the mobile enabled version of the website is given priority over the desktop version. As of July 2021 there are 5.27 billion smartphone users (Global Digital.) That’s 66% of the global population! In the last 3 quarters of 2020 over 60% of all organic searches made in the USA were on mobile (Source Statistics.) You can see that mobile is not a trend, it’s a lifestyle.
