I was talking with a veteran Hammond Organ technician about his early days in the business. He told me about a dealer that sold another brand organ, not Hammond. This dealer had a Hammond spinet on the sales floor, like an M3. He placed a pan of oil under it. He told customers, you have to change the oil in a Hammond every year. You don't want that in your home! He would also refer to the drawbars as drawbacks! He would pull out the fractional drawbars and make it sound as bad as possible. Since Hammond dominated the industry for some 40 years the opposition had to take drastic measures!😎
