New case study! Last year, we completed a complete website redesign for Tri Mor, a leading concrete, earthwork, and utilities contractor based in Northeast Ohio.

Tri Mor partnered with us to design and develop a new website that reinforces their strong reputation as a leading heavy civil contractor, showcases their tight-knit culture, and provides a portfolio of work for prospective clients and employees. The new site needed to validate the company’s professionalism and breadth of work while clearly conveying its culture and values, particularly on the About Us and Careers pages.

Why hire a designer in the age of AI?

Why should you hire somebody to help you with your branding or your website or create a content calendar or a brand strategy when you can just turn to AI?

I'm going to give you a couple of reasons, and explain just what exactly the role of a designer actually is, because I think it's kind of gotten lost in this age of AI. And I think that there's maybe a misconceived notion of what designers actually do.

This topic has been on my mind for quite a long time, and I finally sat down to document my thoughts about the role of a designer during the widespread adoption of AI tools.

This snippet is from a video that was originally recorded as a verbal outline for an essay that I planned to publish on our studio’s website. I recorded this solo Zoom call to capture my thoughts in order to later be transcribed into a more polished blog post, but after reviewing the footage, I decided to release the original recording because I feel that it’s a solid enough representation of my thoughts around this topic.

While I tightened up some thoughts and turns of phrase in the written version, I ended up keeping it mostly in tact and true to the original transcription.

AOG Resources is a specialized aviation staffing firm that connects experienced aviation professionals with maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) facilities around the world. Their previous website was outdated, text-heavy, and lacked cohesion with their newly commissioned logo.

AOG partnered with us to create a modern, clean digital presence that speaks directly to multiple audiences: experienced job seekers (domestic and international), veterans, and MRO companies.

The new website reinforces AOG’s position as a trusted partner in the aviation industry, showcasing high-quality career opportunities and deep experience in providing staffing services through a visually polished and user-friendly experience.

After two years of living with a website that felt just *fine*, we finally launched version 2 of the Zykin Design site, and I couldn't be more excited to share it with you!

The breakthrough came in the most unexpected place. One day, when my husband and I were playing pool, I was struck by the vibrant colors of three solid balls sitting together (red, blue, and yellow). That moment of inspiration became the foundation for our entire rebrand.

The new site features vibrant colors strategically assigned to different service pillars, custom design elements that add personality, and a whole lot more clarity about who we are and what we do.

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a year full of creativity and collaboration. We got to visit a few amazing clients in person, see what they do, and capture photos and video from that firsthand perspective. We also had the chance to work on some great, larger-scale projects—new brand identities, dynamic and immersive websites, and deep dives into the technical work of e-commerce and third-party API integrations. We’re excited to continue sharing that work—new case studies coming soon!

Next Phase Roofing and Construction is a commercial contractor with established expertise across churches, schools, and other commercial properties. We’ve partnered with Next Phase over the past five years on various design projects, from their initial website build through a sweeping series of brochures and marketing collateral. Their website was already fairly extensive, but after five years of brand evolution and building an impressive project portfolio, their digital presence was begging for a refresh.

Earlier this month, we visited Poppoff, Inc. to gather some new content for some website additions and refreshes, like adding new service pages. We had a blast!

A lot has changed since our last visit—like upgraded concrete pumps and an awesome curb machine added the fleet—but the tight-knit culture and camaraderie were exactly like we remembered it.

Their culture is infused with a deep sense of fulfillment and craftsmanship, and you can clearly see that they love what they build. It also didn’t hurt that the weather was perfect!

Getting to see how things are built is one of our primary drivers. We love observing the process, the scale of work, all the moving parts, the teamwork, and the materials. Getting to capture it on camera makes it even more fun!
