It's been a long time, guys and gals! But, I really feel I need to share this win with you all, because it feels so damn good.
I've got a client... We'll call her "Jen". Jen isn't great with computers... at all, lol, sorry "Jen" โค๏ธ. Both times that I've helped her out, it's taken about an hour just to get TeamViewer installed on her computer with me guiding her over the phone (I'm assisting her remotely, due to COVID, and need TeamViewer in order to access her computer from my office). You know that meme with that little old lady adjusting her glasses to get a better look at her computer with the text bubble that says "Is Facebook 'The Internet?'"...? Well, that's Jen ๐.
Anyway, so the other day I get a call from "Jen". She said she can't locate her 50-page paper that she wrote for her Psychology final. 50 PAGES, PEOPLE!!! I don't know about you, but if I lost a 50-page paper that I wrote for a college course... You would probably find me in the fetal position sucking my thumb, lying in a puddle of my own making. I can't imagine *writing* a 50-page essay, let alone *losing* it after the fact!
Here's something you don't know about "Jen":
Jen is older. I can't say for certain how old she is, but she's lived in the same home for the last 40 years. Jen is pursuing a degree in PSYCHOLOGY. Seriously, people... I want you to think about this a bit. Chances are she didn't live in this home when she was in high school, right? So, let's just pretend for argument's sake that she moved into this home when she was 20. That would make her 60 years old today. 60 years old, and pursuing a degree in psychology. First off, anyone who pursues a career/education in psychology gets an front-row spot in my "I Like This Human" book. If you're studying psychology, it's probably got at least *a little* to do with the fact that you're wanting to help people who are struggling with their mental health. And anyone who is willing to invest their time and effort into that front has my utmost respect, and always will.
ANYWAY!! I ramble a lot, and struggle sometimes to get to the point, because I've got A.D.D (Mental-health struggles FTW). After HOURS of data recovery, and a lot of luck, I'm 99% certain that I found her paper. And I CANNOT WAIT to share the good news with "Jen" in the morning! I'm not going to lie, friends... I haven't had a whole lot of wins since COVID started back in March. I'm someone who gets no higher satisfaction, or feeling of accomplishment, than I do when I make an impact for the better in someone else's day. To be able to help alleviate someone else's stress and/or feeling of helplessness or defeat... is the absolute best feeling in the world to me.
I needed a win. She needed *that* win. Life is pretty spectacular in the sense that "by helping others, they inadvertently are helping you to be a better version of yourself".
