ATTENTION ALL USERS OF STUDIOMAGIC 2 AND ADOBE PHOTOSHOP 2021 (V22.01)

When Adobe moved from Photoshop 2020 to Photoshop 2021 – they changed the coding support for legacy panels. After conversations with Adobe we discovered the following:

• Adobe introduced a completely new model for panels (again!) called UXP; however, older panels are still supported (for now); however...

• Adobe said there would be no updates to the "legacy" panel model, but in this latest version of Photoshop, they did in fact update CEP/Chromium, which resulted in the issues you and your customers are experiencing with StudioMagic II (and other developers' extensions and plug-ins).

StudioMagic/LayerCake, Inc. is working on a fix for the coding challenges - we basically have to recode the StudioMagic Extension Panel - and will send out information of how to update your StudioMagic II panel once the new version has been tested, and is available.

In the meantime, please keep Photoshop 2020: Build 21.2.4 installed. This is the only work around ANYONE has at the moment.

Here is a composite image I put together this morning for the Jack Rabbit Trading Post on Old Route 66 just west of Joseph City, Arizona.

► The billboard is one of the Virtual Scenes in the StudioMagic/Layer Cake Elements' Billboard Collection available here: https://www.layercakeelements.com/product/billboard-collection/.

► The background is an image I took on my Samsung Galaxy 8 + in October, 2019. The location of the background image is: Eastbound on the original Route 66 alignment between Seligman, AZ and Williams, AZ.

► The billboard image of the Jack Rabbit Trading Post's iconic, "Here It Is" sign was taken May 22, 2020 on a ride with friends from Holbrook, AZ back to Apache Junction, AZ.

► Using StudioMagic I and Photoshop to cut out the sign, and for the sky replacement, makes inlaying the Jack Rabbit Trading Post's sign into the billboard a piece of cake.

You, too, are able to create amazing composite images when you use the virtual scenes, backgrounds, backdrops, and location sets from our numerous collections on the StudioMagic website (www.layercakeelements.com).

For many types of photography, the question of where you should set your focus is pretty simple. For example, in portrait photography, there is one simple rule: focus on the eyes. When the eyes aren’t on the same plane of focus, focus on the near eye. End of story.

It is pretty simple with other types of photography, as well. In wildlife photography, you focus on the animal. In fact, in any type of photography where there is a clear subject, you always focus on that subject. That’s not to say it is always easy, but at least it isn’t difficult to figure out.

If you want to know where to focus in your landscape scene to achieve maximum sharpness, these 5 tips will help you.
