My name is Shelby A. Stephen and I am the creator of “Ignite The Fuse Design Studio!” If you have been following me for a while, I first want to say THANK YOU for your on-going support and interest in my creative endeavors. If you are new to following me, welcome! I’m so glad to be on your radar! 🫶🏾

“Ignite The Fuse” is the name of my business, but it’s also a brand and lifestyle I’ve grown to live by. Ironically enough, I often feel restrained by my own ideas instead of inspired by them. Coming up with ideas isn’t the hard part for me. I find it more difficult to actually believe in my ideas and see them through to completion. I’ve struggled with perfectionism throughout my life and it has taken me literal years to successfully and intentionally work through it. It’s one of those foundational things about myself that probably won’t disappear, but I don’t let it paralyze me anymore. However, that doesn’t make the process any less scary.

What if my creation turns out ugly?
What if I mess up during the process?
What if “they” found out I’m not as good as I try to make myself seem?

The truth is, an “ugly” creation will always be 1,000,000x better than no creation at all. We are not robots or artificial intelligence. Mistakes come with the territory. I don’t have to be at 100% to share what I have with the world. Sooooo even if you aren’t all the way “ready,” ignite the fuse and see what happens!

Creating allows me to exist in my own creative space, which has been important to me since I can remember. There comes a point where I gotta clock out of reality and go there.
I’m definitely a creator, but on a deeper level, I enjoy contributing to world and providing experiences to people whether I’m teaching, mentoring or just chillin.
I find solace in the fact that we’re people on Earth but we’re also aliens in a universe. You should too! It’s an extraordinary sentiment. 👽

No one asked and I DELIVERED!! 😂

So, this is my first digital self-portrait in about 4 years and I think my 3rd digital portrait to date? (I think?) I learned so much getting through this lil drawing. Let me explain...

1. TRACING helps you find the shapes and there’s nothing wrong with it.
2. Take your time to find your FLESH TONE...I was looking like a legit extra from The Amazing World of Gumball for a sec.
3. TAKE BREAKS...there were several points where I thought I was finished and I wasn’t. You don’t have to finish in one sitting.

This timelapse was like three minutes long initially, so I sped it up. I also added my song HOMICIDE because I just cannot deal with the silent timelapses. 😂
