For those unaware, it was announced yesterday that there was a data breach at Capital One on the 19th of July.

No credit card numbers or login credentials were compromised.

100 million in the US and 6 million in Canada were affected. The data that was accessed include routine credit card application information(not social security numbers) and credit card customer data(credit scores, credit limits, balances, and 23 days of transaction data from 23 days over the course of 2016-2018).

About 140,000 social security numbers and 80,000 linked bank account numbers of credit card customers were compromised.

It is always good to be secure and diligent in the world today. I always recommend that you purchase some sort of identity theft protection. There are multiple companies out there that provide that service at an extremely reasonable price. It can never hurt to be prepared and by having it, you will be able to recover that much faster.
