Les Robins was working as a high school teacher before he won the lottery. He often reflected that it was a shame that kids today don't grow up doing the kinds of activities he himself had enjoyed as a child: going to camp, swimming, playing sports, and exploring the outdoors.

So when he won a $111 million jackpot, Robins decided to use the funds to create his own camp to bring joy to kids.

$$$$$$$$$ Lottery Winning Story $$$$$$$$$

Melissa Creger of Simpsonville was at a restaurant eating with her husband when she checked her ticket from the October 12th drawing. It was that moment she found out she had won $50,000. “She just held up her phone with her hand shaking so much I could hardly see what she was showing me,” her husband said.

“I didn’t believe it, so I double-checked it on the website once we got home. That’s when we believed it was real,” Melissa said.

Later that day, Melissa received a check for $35,500, after taxes. The couple had just gotten an estimate for a deck they were planning to build and may put a down payment on a car with the extra money.

$$$$$$$$$$$$ LOTTERY WINNER STORY $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Ingram, 62, who is retired from trucking and still works in farming, said his lottery luck started when he won $11 in last Saturday’s drawing. He used some of his winnings from that night to buy plays for the game’s drawing on Monday. One of those easy-pick plays won $1 million.

Ingram said he popped awake in the early hours on Tuesday and someone told him to check his ticket. In the process, he misread one of the numbers and thought he only won $100. Was he excited about that?

“Yeah, it’s better than nothing, you know,” he said.

But when he went to the local convenience store where he bought his ticket to have it checked, the store clerk told him he’d actually won $1 million.

“I was pumped up a little bit,” Ingram said. “But she was more excited than me, I think. She said, ‘It’s you! It’s you! It’s you!’”

Word spread quickly in his small community and far beyond. Ingram laughed as he recalled that he got a congratulatory call from a friend in Omaha, Neb., within 15 minutes.

Ingram’s first call was to his girlfriend, Joan Ford. She was with him as he claimed his prize but admits she didn’t believe him at first.

“I thought he was just messing with me,” she said with a laugh. “Because he does that kind of stuff.”

It turns out, he was not messing with her. Ingram said he plans to use his winnings to pay off his home, invest for the future, and likely take another trip with Joan. They enjoy travel and said they take several trips each year.

California woman is announced as $426 million Mega Millions jackpot winner

The lone winner of a $426 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot stepped forward this week to claim her prize.

Yesterday, the California Lottery announced Kristine Wellenstein as the state's biggest winner so far this year.

Back in January, the Mega Millions jackpot had reached an estimated $421 million, which had been bumped up to $426 million after the drawing took place on Jan. 28, 2022.

Wellenstein decided to try her luck and bought a ticket at the Chevron gas station on Topanga Canyon Boulevard in Woodland Hills. As it turned out, she was the luckiest person in the country.

"When I realized I'd won, I was overcome with so many emotions, but mostly gratitude," Wellenstein told the California Lottery.

She was the only person in the U.S. to match all six numbers, which were 3, 16, 25, 44, and 55, with Mega Ball 13. The Megaplier was 3.

The lone winner opted to take the $292.9 million lump sum cash option, which, according to website USA Mega's Jackpot Analysis tool, was estimated to be $184.6 million after federal taxes are deducted. (California does not impose state tax on lottery winnings.)

Although Wellenstein prefers to keep much of her life private, she did relay that the newfound wealth has given her purpose to make a difference in both local communities and the world.

"I want to give back and support local and global-based initiatives, and my team is in place to help achieve those objectives," the lucky player said in a press release. "The real impact of my life's work begins now."

The $426 million Mega Millions jackpot began its cycle in October 2021. 27 rollovers later, sales for the entire sequence in California totaled $110.3 million, the Lottery said. This jackpot run awarded the state's public schools an estimated $40 million.

"We love having big jackpots and big wins in California," Lottery Director Alva V. Johnson said. "Higher jackpots typically result in higher sales, of course, and that means more money for public education, which we are proud to support. The Lottery exists solely to benefit schools, so not only do we congratulate Ms. Wellenstein on this terrific win, but we also congratulate students from elementary on up through university, who greatly benefit as well."

The Chevron gas station that Wellenstein bought her winning ticket at receives the maximum $1 million bonus for selling it.

There were also three players from Mississippi, New York, and Texas who managed to match five numbers in the drawing on Jan. 28, 2022 and win a $1 million prize. One player from Ohio matched five numbers and chose the Megaplier option, boosting their prize to $3 million.

The Mega Millions jackpot currently stands at $226 million for tonight's drawing on Fri., June 10. Mega Millions drawings take place Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 pm PST. Tickets cost $2 each. Players can view Mega Millions lottery results on Lottery Post's

A lucky 64-year-old Florida woman won two $2 million lottery tickets on the same day

There's one lucky woman in Florida whose bet is paying off two times over — technically four times — when she bought two matching Mega Millions tickets, both with the Megaplier option.

Susan Fitton, 64, of Boca Raton, was elated after her bet paid off handsomely, instantly turning her into a multi-millionaire. Following the Mega Millions drawing on Tues., Sept. 14, 2021, she became $4 million richer after winning $2 million on two matching tickets with the multiplier add-on.

Not only that, but she paid less than $20 for those tickets. Both of her two tickets contained three plays each, with the Megaplier add-on bumping up the cost of one play to $3. In total, she spent $18.

The winner beat the 1 in 12,607,306 odds of matching all five white balls but missing the Mega Ball. The winning numbers on Sept. 14 were 4, 13, 19, 63, and 64 with Mega Ball 16. The Megaplier was 2.

Fitton bought her winning tickets at Prip Mart on West Camino Real in Boca Raton. For selling the two tickets worth $2 million each, the retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus commission.
