We have a big announcement to make!
Our team is joining Niantic as full-time employees; to be clear, Escality is not being acquired. We’ve accepted positions at Niantic to help build the next generation of games. Our current products will live on - Conjuror’s Eye will continue to be available on Steam, but we will be wrapping up our client and development operations in the coming month and focusing on our roles at Niantic.
Our thought process behind this decision closely mirrors Teehan+Lax's decision to join Facebook (https://teehanlax.com/story/our-next-act), and can be summed up in the following sentence, which is extremely similar to theirs:
Ultimately, the things we would get to do at Niantic, the people we would get to work with, the problems we get to solve were too compelling to say no to.
Embarking on this new journey made sense for our team personally and professionally. We share the same ambitions for the future of gaming and entertainment, and working with everyone at Niantic has been (and will be!) an absolute pleasure.
This was a big decision for us, and we wouldn't have gotten this far without the amazing support from all of our friends, family, clients, and followers. Big shoutout to Startup UCLA for the amazing resources they provided us and other entrepreneurs to succeed. We definitely would not be where we are now without you all and thank you for everything!
