It's really hard to help someone who doesn't want to be helped. I was helping a guy who graduated college three years ago and has been unable to find any work except something part-time. Every single suggestion he'd dismiss or argue with me about. I could see he was depressed. But at some point, you have to try something new. I suggested he add 10 of my contacts to his LinkedIn and instead of doing that, he insulted me and kept arguing why things hasn't worked out for him. Someone who is unwilling to listen or spend 5 minutes adding new connections to their LinkedIn is never gonna survive out there... it's the hardest and worst economy I've ever seen....but if you keep doing the same thing every day, nothing new will happen. You have to be willing to try and try new things. He eventually spiraled into insulting me and I had to block him. You can't help everyone but you can and need to help yourself.
