About 6 million to 11 million home buyers just got cancelled out of the market. By a stroke of the U.S. Supreme Court’s pen. That’s one practical result of the court overruling Pres. Biden’s decision to forgive up to $20,000 of student loan debt per borrower. Borrowers who would have become debt free under the plan say its cancellation puts buying a home out of reach. As many as 20 million people would have had their entire debt cancelled. In total, the plan would have cancelled an estimated $430 billion in student debt. Others can debate the merits and demerits of the idea. But the home buyers will be missed – as much as they will miss their shot at the American dream.

We can see more clearly now… that the smoke isn’t in our eyes from Canada’s wildfires. Gone are the dark clouds, for today. But the wildfires are still burning. So is the noise around them. It’s a disaster worth thinking through before amnesia sets in. Here are four places to start. 1. Only the weather blew away the smokey plumes shrouding the country from Boston to Albany, New York’s capitol, to NY City, and D.C., the nation’s capital. 2. Smoke knocked out over 50% of solar power in the area. 3. America depends mostly on Canadian timber to build and remodel homes. Canada has the world’s largest intact forest ecosystem, helping clear air on sunnier days. 4. Solving problems one country at a time has its downsides.

On September 28, 2022, 3D's home office in Cape Coral, FL took a direct hit from Hurricane Ian, which made landfall about 15 miles to the west of our office. Ian packed 150 mph winds and deadly storm surge. While our offices remain intact and undamaged, we are one of the 700,000+ currently without electricity in Florida, and 270,000+ in our town of Cape Coral who remain in the dark and without internet. Due to extensive damage to infrastructure, it is unknown at this time when power will be restored.

Employees are safe, although some still remain without power or water in their homes. We've been personally impacted by the storm, and have friends and family who have lost everything, but we count ourselves lucky. We all have our lives, and we appreciate those who have reached out with concern for our 3D family.

We understand that we have customers who are currently unable to activate. Our initial contingency plan to address a situation like this has hit a snag, and we are moving on to plan B. We hope to have activation back up again soon, but we are currently unable to provide installers to people in need. Our existing users will need to rely on the installers that they hopefully have archived as we've suggested in the past, and those seeking to purchase will have to bear with us. We are hopeful that we will be among the 95% that they are assuring will have power restored by Sunday, October 9th.

We will provide more information as it becomes available, and we hope to be back at full speed soon. We appreciate your patience, and your concern and good wishes.
