baby Davis and his siblings 🩵💕 posting has taken a backseat while I try to catch up on all the summer sessions. Crazy to think we are already in June!

I’ll be creating a sign up link for fall sessions in a few weeks and most of those will be during the week. I’m trying to desperately cut back on weekend shooting since I’ve been doing that the last 6 years and I’m ready to have a full Saturday of hanging out with friends and family (or doing nothing at all😜). More to come on that later.

Here’s the secret no one tells you about family photos. Timing is everything ☀️

I book outdoor sessions in the early morning and in the evening closer to sunset, and honestly both times of the day are beautiful. That golden light is special no matter which end of the day you catch it.

But if you’re on the fence, here’s why I’ll always have a soft spot for mornings. The crowds haven’t shown up yet, the light is soft, and the air is actually comfortable to be in. But the biggest thing? Your kids are happy. Rested, energetic, and in a genuinely good mood before the day has had a chance to wear them down.

You’ll leave feeling like the whole thing was actually... enjoyable. Because it will be!

And you’ll be done before most people have had their second cup of coffee, leaving the rest of the day completely free. No sacrificing your afternoon, no dreading it. Just a really great experience and photos to match.

My favorite part about in-home newborn sessions (other than getting to hang out with your adorable babies) is seeing the nurseries ✨

Every family has a unique style and it’s really fun to see that come to life in your baby’s room through family keepsakes and gifts from friends. It feels like the room tells the story of your lives in anticipation of what’s to come🥹

These rooms don’t stay like this for long (the same way babies don’t keep) and before you know it they will be ready for a big kid room. That’s why I always look forward to photographing a nursery :)
