A few years ago I had a bit of an epiphany about what the common element was in a number of my favorite interests: COLOR. I'm passionate about graphic design, illustration, knitting, and even crazy makeup and hair colors. I found it challenging whenever I was tasked with a design project that needed a more corporate or sophisticated look, because it just doesn't come naturally to me to tone down the color. Take one look at my Etsy shop and it'll be obvious that I am a color enthusiast! And the best part? There are more of us out there! Every time someone orders one of these Color Enthusiast stickers (which are also holographic and SHINY!) I just know we're kindred spirits and it makes me smile. This is an example of what happens when I have a ton of items on my to-do list, I get overwhelmed, and instead of checking things off that list… I draw chonky cats instead. These stickers are very popular in our house. My daughters (6 and 3) get VERY excited to help pack orders with the kitties in them! I throw a free sticker in with every order from my Etsy shop, and if my kids are helping pack those orders, chances are one of these kitties will make their way into your package. Look at that fluff! Where my knitters at? This design (and sticker in my Etsy shop) is for us: in honor of dropped stitches, knots, and people talking to us while we’re trying to count.

My mom taught me to knit when I was in high school and I wanted to make myself a Harry Potter scarf (Slytherin, though I’m definitely a Ravenclaw). I only knew one stitch, did not understand anything about gauge or different types of yarn. It was HUGE and ridiculous but I was proud!

Years later, my dear, incredibly talented coworker Cathy introduced me to more advanced wonders of knitting like cables and deliciously fancy . I’ve enjoyed making baby blankets for my daughters, little cardigans, hats, one pair of socks (maybe I’ll tackle another pair some day, but turning heels is terrifying), sweaters and gauntlets.

Right before covid hit my group of knitting coworkers and I all knit colorwork sweaters together. It was my most challenging and rewarding knitting project so far! I’m so glad I finished it back in February when we still had time to all wear them together before Covid temporarily shut down our workplace and resulted in some of us (myself included) losing our jobs. I miss you so, my Tuesday Lunch & Knit friends!
