🚨 SCAM ALERT — READ THIS, FOLKS (Shout out to Sal Easterly on NextDoor) for reporting this!

On Wednesday, my wife and I got hit with one of the wildest scams I’ve ever heard. A guy calls, introduces himself as “Rick Sampler with STLPD, badge #7123,” and tells us my wife “failed to appear for a Federal Grand Jury.” According to him, she now owed a $3,000 fine and had to drive to some kiosk, deposit the money, get a “federal tax number,” and then go turn herself in at the police station.

Yeah. That’s the story they’re running with.

When we started asking questions, he transfers us to another clown calling himself “Officer Marcus Francis,” who tells us we’re not allowed to let the phone disconnect. Real official‑sounding nonsense.

We didn’t fall for it — but someone else could.
And that’s the part that ticks me off.

We’ve already talked to the real police and filed reports locally and federally. This is a known scam, and these guys are trying to get people isolated, scared, and alone. That’s how folks get robbed… or worse.

So I’m putting this out there:
STLPD will NEVER call you demanding money. They will NEVER tell you to pay at a kiosk. They will NEVER keep you on the phone while you drive around.

Please share this so nobody else gets caught up in it. Stay smart, stay safe, and don’t let these idiots get a dime.
