This morning, Helen Keller Services hosted our annual Employer Recognition Breakfast, honoring the organizations that create real, meaningful employment opportunities for individuals who are blind, have low vision, or are DeafBlind.
Through our vocational rehabilitation programs, participants receive career exploration, assistive technology training, job readiness preparation, and work experience training placements with on-site vocational support. These employer partnerships are where that preparation meets practice, giving participants hands-on experience across a wide range of industries while our vocational specialists provide coaching, help identify workplace accommodations, and support a successful transition from training to employment.
We were grateful to hear from current and former participants across both divisions, who shared how HKS programs and these employer partnerships have positively shaped their careers and their lives.
"We all have the capability. It's just about being given the tools and the opportunity to excel and to realize your full potential." -Anthony C.
Hearing their stories firsthand is a powerful reminder of why this work matters.
To every organization we recognized today: you are providing the professional experience, mentorship, and workplace confidence that our participants carry with them throughout their careers. We are proud to celebrate your commitment to building a more inclusive workforce.
